That's according to The Mail and The Sun , who claim City are one of several clubs to hold an interest in moving for the 29-year-old.

Fulham, Stoke City and Sheffield United are all believed to be keen, with Bournemouth believed to prefer a permanent move of around £8million.

Arter spent last season on loan with the Bluebirds, and became a firm favourite with fans during a difficult return to the Premier League.

The strength of Cardiff's interest this time around isn't yet known, but the Bluebirds are open to strengthening their midfield options, after their pursuit of Bordeaux's Younousse Sankhare recently stalled.

The Irishman looks increasingly likely to move on, particularly in light of the arrival Philip Billing from Huddersfield in a deal worth up to £15million.

Just had a text to say we in talks with Arter & Cabaye

...the Arter bit. Not so much Cabaye, didn’t realise he was 33 and not at Palace.

Did he work with Cabaye at Palace? At 33 I'm not sure but haven't seen him play got a while.

Arter if we could get him would be brilliant.

To be honest I'm not sure we need 2 more midfielders when we have Ralls, Bacuna, Demour along with Arter I think that would be enough for 2 places.

Then Reid and Tomlin potentially Hoilett at number 10.

Just need a couple of strikers then.

Will be a shame, think he is a good back up option. Guess Warnock has someone lined up :thumbright:

Always thought Damour was okay tbh.
Someone lined up possibly as you say or a blotted copy book somewhere down the line.

Hmmm maybe this is why warnock has spoke about Tomlin leaving, if cabaya comes in then fair enough but if he don’t Tomlin should be staying, he could be huge this season, gives us something different. Massive yes to arter aswell, he’d do well in the championship with him being such a work horse, this seasons craig Bryson, not alot technical ability but just runs... and runs... and runs... and runs... all 90 minutes.

Cabaye and Tomlin two completely different players in different positions.

Got to say if we got Arter, in particular, and Cabaye I would be amazed and excited in equal measure.

Arter at Championship level would be immense but surely he’ll be going to a London club where he lives?

I’d still like a striker but if we get those two then I would be more comfortable with using what we’ve got in different ways (e.g. Reid further forward).

Agreed with you there. Apparently Arter is Scott Parkers brother in law so might sway it fulhams way?

But does Scott parker want him?
He hardly fits there style of play and let's be fair they have Cairney, McDonald and Johansen in that position anyway.
His wages will also be quite large and they must be struggling with FFP already

I cant see Fulham wanting him to be honest it's just a family connection, if Parker was not there they probably wouldnt even be mentioned

Hard to see Arter fitting in at Fulham , though he was present at their last home game as a guest.

At this level id take Harry Arter in a heart beat and would be delighted if he signed. Not sure about Cabaye though, id have defo taken him 2-3 years ago but he doesn't seem to have done very well in the UAE league, so id probably rather keep Tomlin who's 3 years younger, in good shape, with something to prove.

I think re signing arter would make sense on a financial level. He’s clearly a fan favourite due too his work ethic. He would storm this league and suits our style of play. It would bring a few thousand more to home games knowing he’s running the midfield and definitely bump the numbers up for Wigan. We’d hopefully get more coverage and it’s a signing of real intent which could probably tempt a big name striker to sign ?

I think Fulham have been stalling because like a few have said he doesn’t fit into their style of play and they’ve got decent options in midfield anyway, would be happy sitting on the bench on loan all season he may as well stay in Bournemouth for that. Maybe he will sign for us last day again which wouldn’t be a bad thing at least we’d have him here again
