Either we have a striker, or we waste money

Sun Jul 28, 2019 4:09 pm

Mark my words, either Warnock isn’t being completely honest and we are close to signing a direct replacement for Zohore, or Warnock / Cardiff will panic and spend all of the money we’ve saved up on a solid striker who may or may not do well for us. There is NO way Warnock is going to let the window close with the strike force we currently have. It’s his last season, I suspect he’s a little more ambitious than usual...

Silly selling Zohore let’s be honest, all of you claiming to be chuffed he’s gone will soon find out how much he offered when we struggle with counter attacks.

Best bit of Business since Joe Mason.Heard he(Zohore) was anonymous for WBA the other day.

There’s a difference between being chuffed he’s gone and see selling him as good business. He hit one good bit of form in the last 3 seasons. £8mill for a striker who hasn’t delivered for 2 seasons and only cost a few hundred grand is great business by the club. Although I do agree it will be silly selling him without a suitable replacement coming in. Hopefully we get a deal done this week.

Isn’t this the same post, by the same poster.? Again.

Imo we need better than Zohore and a player as good as Zohore (I guess that's debatable how good he is). At the moment we have 3 strikers who have all been playing at the other end of the table before us and I don't see Reid working as the lone striker. Bolton, Rotherham and Wigan/brum last season is not enough.

For me we need 2 strikers (or 1 striker and a winger who can also play upfront), a midfielder and a right back if we want to push for promotion.

It’s not about Zohore. If you read it literally shows I’m making a point that by not having a replacement ready before we sold him, we are probably going to panic buy on the last day and all that “good business” would have been spent on a potential dud. Because like I said, there is no way Warnock is going into this season with just the strikers currently at the club, you’ll see, he’ll gamble 100% if it comes to it, I just hope we don’t sign somebody for the sake of it, which WILL happen despite what Warnock says.

Warnock seems to genuinly care about the Club and I don't think he will spend money unless he's convinced he 100% needs to and whether he's right or wrong will only be seen at the end of season.

We have Reid who scored double what Zohore did in the last Championship campaign to help bridge the gap untill somebody suitable comes up whether it be via a permanent signing or the loan market, if not we go with what we have in Madine and Ward.

Warnock would not have let Zohore go unless he thought it was good business and not going to have a massive affect on our promotion chances and we have to trust his judgement as he's done a pretty good job so far.

I keep hearing this 'suitable replacement' moan. Considering how ineffectual KZ has been for 2 seasons then surely we have 3 suitable replacements already in Ward, Madine and Bogle who have all done f**k all over the same period

Regardless of what they have done, zohore was our best option as a striker. If you are going to sell that person you’ve got to bring in someone to do a better job.

Ward is never too far away from an injury, Bogles attitude has been poor for several clubs and it just doesn’t look like it will click for madine. Would you be happy to go into the season with them being our only options? Personally I’d like to see Bogle get a run of games as he’s looked pretty promising when I’ve seen him play. I still wouldn’t want to go into the season without buying a striker though.

Zohore was one of 4 pretty poor options and that was my point. WBA offered £8m and we rightly snapped their hands off. If we go into the season with Ward, Bogle and Madine as our striking options that certainly wouldn't be ideal but still having KZ wouldn't make any real difference.

Totally agree, Zohore has proven he can lead the line in a Warnock team which is hard in itself.

I can understand why the offer was accepted, it was a good offer and he had 1 year left on his contract but now Warnock has to show he can get better. Otherwise we simply will struggle.

I cannot agree that KZ has 'proven' himself as a line leader. He has had some short lived purple patches but mainly he has been a waste of space. As Nukes said in another thread if NW and the club hadn't accepted the £8m bid from WBA they should have been collectively driven to the nearest funny farm.

Well we got promoted with him leading the line. Over to Warnock to get better, shouldn't be difficult if he is as useless as people make out.
