Can only really judge come the end of the window.

If it was closed now I would say massively backwards but there are two more weeks of wheeling and dealing to be done although in an ideal world all the comings and goings should really be settled before the season kicks off.

Well we did get relegated, I never expected us to be stronger.

We do need at least 2 quality championship players though to think about promotion. If we want to try for top 2 then probably 4 good players.

Many accepted that when we were in the Premier League we were buying Championship standard players on the basis that if we did get relegated we would have a side capable of having a really good go at an immediate return to the Premier League.

Last season, with the exception of Arter, we had nobody with any real Premier League experience so really we were a Championship team playing in the Premier League, bolstered by the experience of Arter and the very fortuitous loan spell of Camarasa.

It was inevitable of course that once we got relegated we would lose the two loanees so it has been known for a number of months that midfield reinforcements were needed just for us to stand still especially with Gunnar leaving as well, Vaulks is a start but we are still sadly lacking in that area.

I appreciate that £8m is good business for Zohore but seemingly not to have a replacement virtually signed before allowing him to go to a promotion rival almost beggars belief!

Let's see where we are on 9th August but at the moment I am worried that all we are going to see joining are "panic buys" like Madine and Bacuna, average Championship players at best. Hope I'm wrong.

At the moment, we have gone backwards but we have just over a week to make that go forwards. Personally I don’t think we’re going to get ‘that’ striker in, it’ll end up being a loan signing or panic buy on deadline day as always. Confident we’ll get a midfielder but not certain about striker.
