The amount received and spent on transfers so far are about the same. There is definitely a big saving on wages. Therefore why haven’t we bought a good striker or a midfield leader to complete a solid spine? I say this because despite a loss of revenue this year we have received a parachute payment and this was devised to give relegated clubs every opportunity of going straight back up. This should have been addressed straight away as a priority particularly as the club have realised and stated this. No excuses here.

For me, the admission that we let Zohore go without a solid plan to replace him is the most annoying thing. still two weeks left and im sure we will bring more in though.

We also have a long term future to consider. After years of rattling around winding up courts and not having a pot to piss in the club is finally being run properly with a healthy bank account which will keep us solvent for the mid-term at least. I have never been a fan of 'chasing the dragon' spending beyond our means in a gamble on promotion.
What we do now is take calculated risks. We will pay for players who have potential and come with small fees and wages but won't fork out millions on players who have gone from one club to another picking up huge pay cheques based on a couple of goods seasons in the past.
I fully back the way the club are conducting their recruitment at the moment. I also agree with selling KZ as he was also living on past efforts and wasn't providing value for money, plus we needed to sell before WBA realised that £8m for a lazy donkey was a bad deal.

Imo last simmers transfer business was shocking and we can't allow it to happen again.
2 years on and we still need a striker, Infact we are even weaker.
Still need a right back, again weaker.
Warnock still has 2 weeks-ish but he needs to sort this out.

Tan won't spend big.
We didn't last season
We won't this season
I remember speaking to Dalman on the pitch when we got promoted.
He said we weren't going to spend and do a Burnley.
(I agreed but replied that you have to spend something to keep in the game though)
These guys all became rich by making a profit.
They see Warnock as the man to find players that we can make a profit on,or at last not lose money on.
Malky and Ole smashed us..
This is why Etheridge may go next week.
And this still doesn't guarantee a quality striker coming in.....

All makes total sense to me.
Boom or bust is not a business plan in football anymore.
FFP has seen to that.
Parachute payments were not put in place to help relegated clubs get back up, they were to assist with the excessive outgoings that come with prem football and large contracts.

Perfect business sense for me. Most fans won’t have a business brain, so don’t understand the value of money and running a sustainable business. No doubt the fans who are complaining about us not spending big, are the fans 3K overdrawn, credit card maxed, not a penny to rub together, lending a tenner off Mam for a couple of pints on a sat.

Agree with both the above posts. Most fans tend to forget that this is a business, and to be fair, most fans will have had no experience of running a big business. We probably have a few sole traders on here, but while running your own small business can be difficult enough, these massive commercial ventures are on a completely different level.
