Wales and Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale looks set to join Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning on a three-year deal - what do you make of this?
Zinedine Zidane has made no secret of Real's desire to offload Bale - and it seems a big-money switch is closeBy James WhalingThe Welshman is set to put pen to paper on a £20million-a-year contract with Juangsu Suning, according to Marca.
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has made no secret of the club's desire to offload Bale and his £600,000-a-week wages this summer.
He did not feature in the squad for their friendly against Bayern Munich, which Zidane later claimed to be because the former Tottenham forward refused to play.
But he was involved in the next game against Arsenal , coming off the bench to score in the second half as Los Blancos won on penalties.
Bale will reportedly sign a three-year deal in the Far East as he opts for a lucrative switch to China.
The 30-year-old has scored 102 goals and won 13 trophies at Real since moving to the Spanish capital six years ago.
Marca say the deal could be announced as early as tomorrow.
After making Real's intention to offload Bale public, Zidane rubbished claims he had disrespected the player, who has won four Champions League titles at the Bernabeu.
"I have not disrespected anyone and much less a player (Bale)", Zidane said.
"The club is dealing with his departure. Period.
"The other day Gareth didn't play because he didn't want to. He said the club was trying to negotiate his departure he and didn't want to play because of that.
"So far, Bale hasn't asked not to play tomorrow.
“Bale's situation is known by everyone and will not change. The club is going to do what they have to do with him.
“I have to respect the players. Bale is with us and will do the same as the others."Bale had been linked with a return to the Premier League with either Tottenham or Manchester United, but his wages were always likely to be a stumbling block.

Totally obscene hes nowhere else to go now for 3 yrs! And Hes not worth 50m a year so he's being used as a front to encourage other top players to go there?

He WOULD turn it down if there were any other options.
But no one else can even come close to meeting his Madrid contract so why leave? But when you add in the treatment he is getting there he HAS TO get out.
This is therefore his only option if he wants to get away from that odious place.
He will take a load of stick for going to China though and be labelled as just another greedy footballer.

Reckon he would be loaned to Inter in the winter, given the close relationship between Jiangsu and Inter

Can't bblame him. Nice little earner. Like someone said earlier in the week, most players will go wherever the best money is. That is why we had a laugh when someone suggested we could sign him as he would be happy to play for his home town club.

They say he’s worth £95M now... sounds to me he can’t be arsed at the top level anymore...
Doubt he lasts a year...if he goes.

Rafa and a lot of top players now signing for Chinese clubs, they have the money to be a serious threat to the Premier League!
Within 20 years America and China could well be World leaders in Soccer, they have the money and the Premier League is already owned by foreign investors who could take their clubs and money to these emerging markets?

That’s my thoughts.
He’s got enough money to last him and his family several lifetimes already.
Money grabbing at its worse.

What are his options otherwise?
Does he stay where he's not wanted and wont be played or take a pay cut because no one can afford his fee.

Lower his wages to a measly 150-200 thousand pounds per WEEK and sign for a champions league club.
I’m sure there would be a few interested.
That’s a football decision I would take - but on a purely financial decision China is the way.

Ok 1 Million a week but how much is the transfer fee ?

Getting the norm players moving for money rewards rather than footballing ones. Football is almost ruined by the money involved! One player had €220m buy out clause ffs messi not with that now?

Clubs like bury nearly going bust, and wages of 1 million a week for a player, football slowly killing itself

It is because the pond is getting smaller and smaller with fewer clubs able to afford players like bale! Result will be a merry go round of players going between same few clubs, its already left premier club basically in 3 parts top 6 middle 4/5 and the rest battling relegation be same every season probably...

End up having a handful of teams in a European Super League, or even a World Super League somewhere further down the line. Be a handful of teams sharing out around 90% of the cash while the remainder live off the left over scraps.

The jealousy is strong in here. As if any of you would turn down 1M a week contract. Give over

I would honestly choose 300k a week to stay in europe than 1mill to move to china.
It depends how much money you think you need.
Then again I would play for cardiff for 40k a week rather than man utd on 150k a week because being close to family is more important to me than a career, especially given the fact I could easily live a happy wealthy life on 40k

I’ve read that the deal was only ever 50-50 and the Chinese club offered the salary but not the transfer fee of around 80mil.
That coupled with the Asensio injury and getting slammed by 7 goals against Athletico maybe as well.

That would explain it then. Had not heard about their seven goal thrashing or the transfer fee problem. Be good for Wales if he remains and gets regular game time.

I agree, he may even creep back into the side which would be good for Wales. After the drubbing by local rivals Athletico Madrid, even though it was a friendly, there’s a good chance Bale may even last longer at Real than Zidane!
