Who would be your biggest surprise in your history of watching city. 1. Let down after high expectations 2. Biggest surprise.
I'll start off with biggest let down. Not so much a let down, but disappointed he wasn't involved more. Pilkington. For me he was class but never really seemed to be involved in our "better teams" as a first team player.
Biggest surprise for me would have to be Paul Parry. No expectations at all. In fact out of that season he was the least likely to make a mark at first. But overall (could be wrong) actually stayed the longest and held a first team place down.

Going to mix it up a bit mate as I have never really been surprised or let down by a player as such,
Biggest surprise as a Cardiff fan was getting to the FA Cup Final in 2008 which was incredible... biggest let down, having our colours changed from Blue to Red and the lack of apathy from the fan base

Biggest disappointment would either be Cornelius, Le Fondre or Javi Guerra. Not sure whether it was because I’d bigged them up in my head so much before they played. But obviously none played much and when they did were rubbish.
Biggest surprise would probably have to be Etheridge, my thoughts may be tainted due to the last couple of seasons he’s had. But nobody expected him to start let alone be our best player. Others who have surprised me are Hudson and Ralls (because I thought he was terrible until the previous 2 seasons)

Biggest let down for me as a Cardiff fan was Ridsdale promising to spend all season ticket sales on players and not delivering. I was so incensed at the bare faced lie that i joined the march to get Ridsdale out even though he had delivered on so many things prior. That was just unforgivable to me and a direct betrayal to me. I'd have bought my season ticket if hed said we are in trouble and need funds.
Biggest surprise is a more difficult. The ones above actually do stand out.
Probably the fact that Callum Patterson bought as a right back performed better than any forward player.
He has been outstanding and even if his performances wern't that great... the fact that he runs his arse off every minute of every game makes him a favourite of mine. Cardiff fans have grown to accept lack of quality but never lack of effort and Patto goes above and beyond for me.

For me it had to be Adam le Fondre. Came in at 26 with a proven record of being a goal scorer at Championship level and was a complete let down and a shadow of the player that scored 12 goals in the prem followed by 15 the following season in the champ for Reading.
In terms of players who suprised me that i thought would be average id have to go with Neil Etheridge. Thought he was bang average when he started for us, and on a free from Walsall i really didnt expect him to become as good as he has.

For me,my surprise came in the shape of Robert Earnshaw, I remember my dad being convinced they had left the "ball boy" on the pitch

in his first start for us

,biggest let down has to be the colour change fiasco, and hearing/watching fans turn on one another

thankfully my dad taught me well, not to dwell on the past too much, concentrate on today and the future, the rest is history son,and there nothing we can do to alter history.he suffered with dementia which was advancing at pace the first time we got to the prem, and died sadly before the second time

he instilled in me the follow your hometown club philosophy, why would you support a team that you have zero affinity to he would say,f'ing glory hunting armchair fans

I will miss his wit at games, more than most

he always saw a silver lining, even after a hammering

(RIP)

You hit that spot on, my dad similar but sadly passed when I was 11 years old in 1972. Same principles installed in me to support your home town (or growing up city) club. Cannot understand people who support a club that they have no personal connection too ?
So, yes the RED issue certainly was a massive miscalculation by the new owner - turned fan against fan and for me personally for the first time made me question my loyalty to the Bluebirds - which I hated, I even questioned myself about the whole football fan situation. and to get to the Prem in RED was just a total let down. Thank you MR Tan for listening eventually. I do believe that Mr Tan was badly advised when he suggested it and certain people did not stand up to him and voice their concerns. BUT all good now
For my biggest Plus, it has to be Tony Evans, The free transfer striker from Blackpool - for those who remember - what a prolific partnership with Adrian Alston in the mid 1970's - we need that sort of partnership again now.
Come on City

Biggest let down for me is zaha, expected big things from him but never delivered and it’s easy to forget he ever was at city !
Biggest surprise for me is definitely etheridge, Guy is a class act

Lowest. The events surrounding our last game at Ninian Park. I'm not bothered that it was all a bit lame on the day as there was going to be another chance to give the old girl the send off she deserved, from us lot. And then there wasn't and we'd already been to the funeral, but we didn't know.
Best The cup finals.

How has nobody mentioned Sol Bamba?! Cursed by Leeds fans before he came here and has been ever present for the club since.
For that matter Lee Peltier, I thought we had signed a complete dud judging by the comments of previous clubs. You can say what you want about Lee but defensively I think he's always been pretty sound.

I wasn't surprised by Sol. You watch him play before us and you could see the class in him.

Surprise was probably Kev McNaughton, remember watching him in a preseason game and thinking he was awful, bit of a headless chicken and wondered what we signed. Turned out to my a favourite of mine.
Biggest let down was Sam, while I'm still glad he came to the club and got us going, I think the way he shafted us and all the lies of the debt comes with me et. and then the whole Langton thing, can't think well of him.
