Bury in serious trouble and may not start the season

Thu Jul 25, 2019 3:18 pm

It appears likely that a 14 day notice will be issued later today:

With League One kicking off on Saturday 3rd August, Bury have just over one week before their opening fixture at home to Milton Keynes. We might not get to that point though with a meeting today for the club to prove compliance with SAG requirements. Bury FC might have their fixtures suspended as early as today or tomorrow.

Sad the way football finances are spread in a way that some clubs face crisis week after week, Bolton are also in all sorts of trouble.

I remember games at Bury very well parking along Cemetry road, but the most memorable were an end of season crazy aftermatch and the night match when our mascot started fighting with theirs half way through the second half :D :D

Lots of memories of Bury Bolton and many other clubs in Crisis including Coventry City and its really sad to see

Corky,
Thats terrible news and sad for an old club like Bury.

They've already taken 12pts off them.

Bury is where My mothers side of the family was from and I watched Bury about 7 times before I watched the Bluebirds, 1971-72 I watched their games, before My Grandfather moved down to Cardiff and took me down the City in 1972.

So I always look out for them.

Watched Cardiff there in 1976 and there onwards visiting there on many occasions with City :bluebird: :bluebird:

Sad state of affairs when only 10 miles south of them are 2 clubs who will spend 10 times more on one player than it would cost to buy a whole club at Bury. Or Bolton for that matter.

We have to consider ourselves lucky to have got the Malaysian connection when we did or we could have been in the same boat.

It will be a shame if Bury are forced to close.
With all the £billions from sky wasted on the top greedy clubs agents players, the FA should have made sure all the top 4 leagues had a more equal share.
Then clubs would never be put in a position where they fold.
Without the smaller clubs the top clubs would never exist.
Football should be for everyone not just the super rich clubs.
