I can understand fans’ frustration but NW won’t be held to ransom and the ball is still in players / agents courts atm.
Our targets are probably being advised to sit tight a while longer, just in case a more lucrative offer comes in.
That said, I reckon we’ll have one in by early next week.

It's all good, we're signing Lionel Messi, he's agreed to leave the Catalan region to settle in Splott in a 3 bed with his missus kid and horse.

£5000 a week wages and an ice pop  :laughing5:

I share the frustration. If Warnock thinks we can go into the new season without re-investing that money he's sadly mistaken.

Re: Wheres a new striker??

Thu Jul 25, 2019 7:42 am

My prediction will be that Warnock will do a press conference tomorrow in which he will say that nothing is imminent and it will go down to the last few days of the transfer window

Then on Monday completely out of the blue we will announce the signing of a £12 million striker that has not been linked with us.. we will then win the league by 15 points :ayatollah:

Some fans aye.

Don’t you think that if it was up to Warnock he’d probably have had wanted his targets all in by now? Things happens behind the scenes in football that most of us wouldn’t comprehend. Things change all the time, I bet you Warnock is just as frustrated, he’s said people are going flat out behind the scenes so trust what he says ffs.

There’s money there, he’s said that. We’ve just got to sit tight and the targets will hopefully come in. If these players we’re interested are the quality we need then there maybe other clubs interested too. It’s all too easy for fans to start shouting the odds but it’s not as easy to get quality in as people think.

We’ll be good to go come a week next Saturday, I’m sure of that.

Who’s says we’re going to sign one? Madine, Reid, Ward, Bogle - maybe that’s it.......

At least we helped WBA get theirs. You would assume we would have only sold zohore if something was lined up yet it’s ominously quiet. Then again nobody seems to be in the know anymore so hopefully a nice surprise it’s on it’s way.

Anyone who has read his books will understand how hard he works in the transfer windows, he works through a list of players, but has to deal with agents and clubs being too greedy, he will be working hard on these lists, and I am sure he will have one before the window closes!

Not sure how many prolific strikers are up for sale right now, but you can bet that if there are any, we won't be the only club chasing them.

Should it be this difficult to sign a striker when you think of the whole of all the European countries, the far east, the african continent, south america. The soviet and eastern block countries the whole world basically , oh and the uk.

Simple to sign a striker. Not easy to sign a good striker though. As I said above, good strikers will be watched by plenty of other clubs as well as Cardiff. Their agents will make sure of that.

Original grange end blue

Nothing silly here matye

We where relageted end of season and have had all this time since to sort a striker, to earmark, and to set a budget, on a striker, we found sala, you are telling me that we cannot sort this as a football club and you are going to say its not that simple
but i think it is but it depends on what restrictions you put on the budget if you are prepared to pay the going rate including wages even if it means altering the wage structure you can buy .

Omar Bogle wearing no.27 sends a message, though thought that shirt would be retired.
Give him a chance though, as he’s scoring preseason.
We have goals across the front 5 plus set pieces. Expect Vaulks to get a few.
This squad can get us out of the championship.

Of course it’s not that simple monty or every club out there would be buying a 20 goal a season striker that fits within their clubs budget.

You can bet your life the club is working to get this done but if they identify a player then you can be sure at least 6 other teams are after the same guy so it’s not easy.

Yes, we found Sala but who knows if we was another Bothroyd or another Madine?

Warnock has forgotten more than you’ll ever know about the transfer system and building a squad for promotion so let’s just wait and see.

Personally, I’d love another couple of quality players coming in especially a midfielder but I’m trusting him to do the right thing if it’s possible because it not always is!

I’m not understanding the relevance to Bogle and the no.27 shirt mate?

If there is a striker worth anything he will be going to lower premier club they usually do.

Re: Wheres a new striker??

The sad fact is we are highly unlikely to sign a 'proven goalscorer' at Championship level. They either cost too much or will go else where.

The best we can do is sign a striker with potential to be a goal scorer at Championship level which means either taking a punt on lower league strikers, find a gem from overseas or loan a young player from a top PL side.

Why? we should have money enough available to spend

Re: Wheres a new striker??

Money talks and another problem is that we seem unable or willing to break our wage structure.

This is certainly not being helped by a failure to move out Madine, Smithies,Connoly,Richards and perhaps Tomlin.

Our current recruitment of only Vaulks which can be considered a first team regular is extremely disappointing.

Flint should not be counted as he is a direct replacement for Bruno.

Hard to believe we are again leaving it so late in additions to first team players.

Money is not the only variable. The 'proven goalscorer' would have to want to come to Cardiff over other clubs such as Leeds etc. not to mention lower half PL sides.

But getting back to money it guarantees nothing. Gary Madine was a supposed proven Championship goal scorer who cost £6m yet we still wait his first goal in any competition 20 months after he signed and just about no-one would be happy to go into this season with him as our main striker.

are leeds signing every striker in the division then?

we are one of the better prospects in the league, one of the better payers as well i imagine. a good opportunity for any striker. and Madine has never been a proven championship scorer has he? hes never scored goals in this league with the exception of the half a season at bolton. and i think most of them were penalties.

The problem is we throw a large fee and wages at a striker who then turns out to be a dud. We have then burnt our cash and are stuck with the players contract which he will sit on and restrict the ability to grow the squad in future years as another dud drains cash out of the club in the same way as Madine, Smithies,Connoly, Richards and Tomlin.

As to leaving things late we have no option but to wait as agents/players weigh up their options. It happens every window and this year will be no different.

Leeds were just an example of the food chain which unfortunately we are a lot further down than most of our fans would like to admit. It is a sad fact that players generally don't want to come here for a number of reasons.

We might be a good prospect in your eyes but that is not what counts. It is the opinion of the agent/player that counts and generally CCFC is viewed as a move only if there is nothing else.

Madine at the time of his transfer was seen as the answer to our goal scoring problems. He was having a great season at Bolton in a struggling side and was available. But he is also the reason why we should not throw money at a problem as you suggest.
