That's gonna cause some more moaning!

Personally I think it's a great move. Will speed up getting a half time beer!

Will speed up in some sense, but what about youngsters who go with dads, mums etc, what got trust them with your card while they go and get a coke or hot dog etc, its a good idea but think should be a line for cash payments only aswell, not all people have contactless either so time they have put in pin almost same time as getting change

I think it's a great idea.

But you have a good point about kids. Not everyone has a bank card.

I wonder if the prices will increase to cover the costs of the card machines etc?

Not that it bothers me because I never buy any of the overpriced slop they serve in the stadium but I know for lots of people having a pint or four is almost as important as actually watching the game.

One of the lads in work went to the Fulham away game and ordered a hotdog, bag of popcorn and 2 pints and was told that would be £26 (2 pints £13.00, £5 popcorn and £8 hotdog) - he took one bite of the hotdog and spat it out as it wasn't cooked, threw it at the guy who served him then jumped the counter and grabbed his money from the till, he has now been banned from taking money to football matches and now is only allowed to take his debit card.

That's going to be a bit difficult to enforce isn't it?

Has a picture of his face been sent to every ground with the instruction to make him turn his pockets out before every game?

Maybe they have a special sniffer dog that can tell if you're hiding a 2p piece down your sock?

I don't actually believe him, it was the same guy who RKO'd the taxi driver a few years ago, there's a thread lurking somewhere, I witnessed the RKO, the taxi driver was out cold :laughing5:

Being one of a dying breed who hasn't got a card means that I will no longer be able to purchase anything inside the ground. Not a good idea at all in my opinion, not everyone likes using cards but sadly this is the way most venues seem to be heading, in a few years time using cash will be virtually unknown.

Think the amount of negative comments I've seen this afternoon may result in the club backing down and having a cash till or 2, especially under the family stand.

It’s a bad idea imo

But that is the way the world is going

You can go to WHSmith or places like that and buy a mastercard prepaid gift card. I've bought one today in anticipation for the friendly game on Saturday. I bought a £100 one, it cost me £104 (£4 activation fee). But considering I also don't have a bank account it's perfect. I'm almost 100% sure you can use it anywhere

My 9 year old has a kids debit card. Lots of kids have them these days. Its where we are heading these days. A homeless guy had a debit card machine in town the other day too. I agree with cashless as it will save lots of time but there should be a voucher option for people without cards. We just need those rapid pour pints now (like spurs) and it will be even quicker.

Think it finished before last season :occasion5:

Bad idea I think, don’t think it’ll even speed things up, especially for the people who don’t have contactless, giving someone a fiver for example and waiting 5 seconds for change is faster than putting the card in, pin in, waiting for it to be approved etc

They've started doing kids accounts with cards for pocket money, that will increase rapidly over the next 12 months, it's a great idea I think.

I suppose it's the very old that will be affected as well, I would help someone with no card wanted food, I would take the cash and buy it for them to help them out and I'm sure many other people would.

Lots of places will go cashless in the next few years.

It saves massive amounts of time collecting the cash counting the cash banking the cash sorting out each kiosk a float there’s lots of benefits to it.

How do people cope using only cash? And as someone says not even having a bank account?! Wow.

Agreed its the future and companies are starting pre loaded debit cards for people that refuse to open a bank account, I expect the post office will do something like this in the future if they don't already?

On the bright side, can we expect nice new beers and food? Maybe a Clarks pie?
