Former Cardiff City defender Jazzi Barnum-Bobb has signed for National League Wrexham on a one-year.
Right-back Barnum-Bobb joined the Bluebirds from Watford and later played for Newport County.
He has been training at Wrexham since the start of pre-season and has impressed, featuring against Cefn Druids, Fleetwood Town and AFC Telford United.
Enfield-born Barnum-Bobb, aged 23, left Newport during February 2018 for personal reasons and played for National League South side Chelmsford City to keep up his fitness levels.
He will take squad number two and says: “I’m delighted to get the move sorted.
“I’ve enjoyed my time training at Wrexham and the aim was to earn a contract. I am really happy to officially sign and can’t wait to get started.”
“Wrexham are a massive club and when the chance to train with them came along it was a no brainer to see if I could come and impress.
“The manager (Bryan Hughes) has put his faith in me and given me a deal. I’ve enjoyed working with Bryan and can’t wait to get started with the style he wants us to play in.
“I like to bring energy, in terms of both attacking and defending, I hope to bring some more assists and score a few goals too.”
Manager Hughes believes new signing Barnum-Bobb fit the ball ‘perfectly’ for what he was looking for in a right-back after unveiling the defender as his sixth new signing of the summer.
“It has been ongoing for a little while, there was a bit of paperwork to be done between other clubs, but he will be part of our squad for this season, so I am really delighted” said Hughes.
“Jazzi has impressed me, but not just me, I think he has impressed everyone in the group and the coaching team. He has got good work ethics, he is a good player, both defensively and attack minded.
“He will fit into what we are trying to achieve this season. Jazzi will come in and challenge for that full-back spot and I am delighted that he is on board.”
The manager had brought in forwards Mark Harris, on loan from Cardiff City, JJ Hooper, Devonte Redmond and Leighton McIntosh plus defensive midfielder Adam Barton and Barnum-Bobb.
“I was after a specific type of right-back, somebody athletic who can defend as well as attack. Jazzi fits that bill.
“There were a couple of others who interested me, but once Jazzi came in and you get to know the character and see him on the training ground and in games he fitted the bill.”
