“ Jimmy Mcinch “

The former Cardiff City midfield starlet Jimmy McInch has died. He was 66 years old.

Glasgow-born McInch came through the Bluebirds ranks with City legend Phil Dwyer and starred alongside the Cardiff's record appearance maker as Jimmy Scoular's youngsters made the FA Youth Cup Final of 1971 - losing to Arsenal 2-0 in a two-legged affair.

With the likes of Derek Showers, John Impey, Billy Kelloch and Alan Couch, he failed to build on sparkling early promised and was eventually released by the Bluebirds in 1975.

The all-action linkman starred for Bath City during the mid-seventies - scoring against then rising club Wimbledon in an FA Cup upset.

McInch died in Cardiff over the weekend.

May he rest in peace. :ayatollah:

Jimmy or Jim the Tim as he was known in Canton Libs always reckoned Scoular didn’t play him as often as he should because Scoular was a big Rangers Fan

Same age as my Dad, was known to knock around the playing fields of Llanrumney jumpers for goal posts, hell of a player, I saw him play in 1982 for the Don Diablo Dynamo's when he scored 2 hat tricks, they chucked him in goals when his kneecap fell off mid game, he conceded 7 and they lost the cup to the Amandford Academicals
