Cardiff City target Younousse Sankhare opens up on future

Bordeaux midfielder Younousse Sankhare insists he won't rush into making a decision on his next move.

Cardiff City have long been linked with a move for Sankhare, along with South Wales rivals Swansea, Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest.

Reports over the weekend have now suggested that La Liga duo Leganes and Alaves have also joined the race.

There had previously been suggestions that Cardiff were in pole position to land the 29-year-old, but the player himself says he's not yet made a decision on his next destination, after being told he is not in coach Paulo Sousa's plans.


“I don't understand the position I am in,” he said, in an interview with L'Equipe. “Each time there is a new manager, it is the same thing. I am initially cast aside, I do what I need to do to reintegrate myself and things go well.


“This time, the coach (Sousa) made it clear to me that he is not counting on me, that I needed to find an exit door.

“Okay, but I am not just going to go to any old club, in any way.

“They want to sort out my situation as quickly as possible but they need to respect me at the very least.


“I have actually succeeded in Ligue 1, I’ve been here for two-and-a-half years and I make an impact once every three times. I am not going to go to any random project just because Bordeaux have decided to (get) rid of me.

"We will take the time to discuss and study the pros and cons with my agent. I have not yet decided on a specific club."

At 29 if he's not made it he never will. Sounds like he values himself more than his managers! Move on Cardiff he sounds like trouble!

Depends weather the prem clubs are really calling or not,if they are why would he come here.I wouldn't put to much faith in the translation either,theres always some context lost.

It's better than some would have us believe zohore was producing (1 in 4) even though ken scored 10 goals in a purple patch, then 3 and 1 the following two seasons so in reality 1 goal in 16 last year,3 in how many appearances the season before so he has a better record? Not that struck by his comment of not going to any old club either,move on neil

f*ck off then, had enough of waiting for ages for players with huge ego's to decide whether they want to join us or not. This transfer seems to have been on-going for ages. Hope we move on and get a player who's a bit younger and possibly better.
