Deep Blue FC wrote:I genuinely don't think we'll win very many games with our current squad. Defense will probably start leaking goals in now Bruno has gone, and Bamba out until October. Our midfield has lost a huge leader in Gunnarson, I actually think there's question marks over Vaulks too. I think our attack is lacking firstly because our striker department in thin and lacking much genuine quality and spark. Our wingers are Hoilett who is not far from how Noone was for us when he started losing his pace. Murphy & Mendez-laing have to start every game and if one of them get injured or out of form I don't think there's a genuine like for like replacement on our bench as out squad currently stands.
The arguement about "this squad got us promoted" simply isn't true. Gunnarssons & Brysons Endeavour ontop of A classy Marko Grujic gave us a solidity in midfield which is hard considering we play a certain way that most typically only workhorses thrive in, so we were very lucky to have Grujic when we did to offer us that extra bit of creativity as well as being a unit. Our defence is half of what it was in the promotion season too, now that Manga is gone and bamba is injured.
I've started to see recently since we've lost Ken & Bruno that this season might not be as exciting as I thought. I'm genuinely concerned we're going to achieve mid table or 9th or something. Playoffs with our current squad? I don't see why..
Hope I'm wrong, just can't see what sort of player(s) we can get considering we're in the championship. It's not as if Liverpool are going to loan us Marko Grujic who I think is not far off a top 10 premier league standard at least.

Its easy to be negative, but one positive difference we have in this squad that we didnt last time we were promoted, is Murphy and Reid. Of course they have to be used well, and we need at least 2 quality signings to join them. but no reason we cant be in the top 6 at least.

All Bryson did was run about like a headless chicken. Ralls far better at this level. Imho.
Personally the team is puck if the season started without any more additions would be -
Etheridge
Peltier Morrison. Flint. Bennett
Vaulks. Ralls
NML. Tomlin. Murphy
Reid. /. Paterson.

I think that team would really struggle if im honest, midtable probably.
Im fully confident we will bring in at least 3 good players though.

All opinions mate but the midfield isn’t far off the one that got us up last time. I’m assuming Tomlin is fully fit too.
I’m sure some signings will be in soon.

I agree but there’s a (dreaded) YouTube video doing the rounds called Tomlin skills and goals or something and considering he barely played for us there’s a few from his time with us as well as with Forest.
I agree that we can’t pin our hopes completely on LT but he’s fitter than he’s ever been (seems to be anyway) and if hes100% up for it, I’m hoping g he’ll be like a new signing.
Sort of agree with the right back conundrum (we have 2 great left backs!) but as long as he stays fit, Peltier has been pretty decent and by all accounts Nelson can play RB too.
As you both say, I reckon we’ll have a first team midfielder and striker in by the Wigan game.

Isn't Patterson an international right back? NW needs to use players in their natural position and play to teams strengths not play a style of football that is hit and miss depending on opposition? We are world beaters in head tennis why not try something different we have the skillful players to be really good footballing side .

He's a much better Striker/Midfielder than Right Back, he even said himself he prefers playing in midfield, why force a player to play in a position they're not good at just because thats where the international team has plopped him
