35 is the new 30

Sun Jul 21, 2019 8:58 am

I can't understand all these people that think your over the hill as a player when you turn 30.Players are looking after themselves far better than they used to and with the improvement in medical knowhow and proper diet more and more players are now as good or better when they're 33 as they were at 23.So the signing of Aden Flint at 30 bothers me not one little bit as I'm sure lots will remember Mark Hudson being outstanding for us in his 30's to name one.

In his prime bud, a lot on here saying we’re going to get torn apart with flint and Morrison at the back, we have an excellent defensive midfielder in will vaulks if we add another good central midfielder they will do most of the running and flint and Morrison will sense any danger coming a mile off, I think this is a class signing

Yeah i always found it odd the attitude people have as soon as a player turns 30, you dont magically lose all pace and playing ability the day you turn 30

Who said that?

energy levels decrease after 25... it’s why Messi has had to change his game..

Who said that? We are all different, that's like saying everybody's energy levels dip on their 25 birthday-Which is my point about 30yr old players. :lol:More likely to be crocked by your joints wearing out.

The problem with signing players at that age for me is purely a business point of view. That's 6m spent on a player with little to no prospect of ever getting any of that back, a player who, should we get promoted might well be surplus to requirements.

If we didn't have Morrison I'd say he'd be a good signing (though I'd rather have spend a little less on him) but he's not really a replacement for manga (in terms of ability or style)

Paul why are you so bothered about business? Your not a CEO. If flint turns out and has 3/4 solid seasons for us then it will be a great buy. Give it a chance.

Plus it's, 4m with potential to rise to 6. Your bumping on about spending a couple of mill (the difference) on a player who hasn't played yet like we've got another acorn.

Agree. People concerned about running the club as if it’s their money or they’re financial experts.
The club is in great hands at the moment, run sensibly under strict guidelines so need to to worry on that score.

On the face of it I think Flint is a great signing.

What a silly question. I'm bothered about my / our club not spending the money it has available in the right areas. It would be weird if I wasn't
