Morrison and Flint

Thu Jul 18, 2019 4:35 pm

I have to say im quite disappointed we're selling Manga for 3m even if he does only have 1 year left on his contract, as I feel we'll miss his calmness on the ball, good distribution and most importantly his pace. I was wondering with the imminent arrival of Aden Flint for 6m is anyone else very worried about the lack of pace we'll have in the back 4? We'll probably have the slowest defence in the championship with Morrison and Flint hoofing the ball down the pitch, and if we come up against any team that rotates or has genuine pace we're f*cked. Thoughts?

I see your point, Manga for me best defender in championship, calm cool and collective but also prone to the odd moment of madness.

I don't know if Flint and Mozza will be our main CB pairing , both are slow, but Flint is a proper no nonsense defender and loves a goal.

No. You play a CDM to break the play up, with two deep CB. Simple

The lack of pace worries me too.

Together they'll win everything in the air but against teams with quick, agile forwards who play the ball in to feet we already know that Morrison struggles and Flint is probably not as quick as Bruno or even Sol.

Would definitely prefer to have kept Bruno because £3m now is a drop in the ocean if he helped us get promoted again this season but if he wants to go back to France as has been suggested then good luck to him.

Can anybody see a fit Sol Bamba not starting?

He's not even the best defender at Cardiff city for me, was never going to break the bamba Morrison partnership at centre back and I thought we looked much stronger at right back when bamba got injured manga moved across and Peltier came in. That said he's been a good signing and I wish him well but Flint will be perfect for Warnock style of play, Morrison and flint at corners and set plays will cause havoc

Me, he's 34 now, think Morrison and flint will be the partnership bamba and nelson back up

If flint and morrison dosent work then we have a quick fit to inject pace in to the back line in curtis nelson.
And anyway bamba isnt the fastest and bamba and morrison partnership last time out in the championship was solid.

I think we may be underestimating Nelson. Never seen him play but the universal view on the Oxford message board was that he was way to good for league one and would be completely at home in the championship. He is supposed to be quick and very comfortable bringing the ball out of defence. It would not surprise me if he became our first choice central defender as the season progresses.

Obviously it's a blow losing Manga but with a choice of Flint Morisson Nelson and Bamba I don't think central defence will BA a problem next season.

Harsh on Morrison, he has marked some of the best Strikers in the World well this season, they will cope well with the best in the Championship, and we will have one of the best defensive records in the League, it's upfront we need to sort out!!!

Bamba is 10x faster than Morrison and Flint

Could he be thinking of playing a back 3 of Bamba , Morrison and Flint ?

Or moving Bamba back into defensive midfield in this league

Warnock has a lot of options defensively

 experience counts for large majority of good defensive work and they have lots ! Time will tell if opposition use lack of speed to their advantage

It's only going to work with a CDM sat in front of them.

On today's showing, not harsh on Morrison at all.

I'm afraid today was not an encouraging start for the Morrison/Flint partnership, and most of that wasn't due to Flint.
