U23 | Andy Legg: The attitude was exactly what I wanted to see
15 July 2019

Following their 7-0 victory against Tavistock AFC on Monday evening, U23 coach Andy Legg shared his thoughts on the match.

Monday’s match against the Lambs was the young Bluebirds’ first fixture of their pre-season tour of Devon & Cornwall. Andy began by discussing his side’s performance following a physical match at Langsford Park.

“I’m pleased with the workout, and of course I’m pleased with the result.

“It was good to make sure that we got the minutes in for the players, and it’s good to see that we’ve got no major injuries.

“One or two things came off that we worked on during pre-season training, which was good."

The young Bluebirds’ previous fixture also saw them up against a senior side, where they drew 1-1 away against Larkhall Athletic. With two further matches to play against senior teams this week, Legg continued:

“That’s two games in a row that have been really physical, with another two to go this week.

“The more they play against men the better. The more they play, the quicker they’ll learn."

Reflecting on the young Bluebirds' performance as a whole, he concluded: “More than anything, the attitude was exactly what I wanted to see. They chased their fitness which is what we asked for, and it’s pleasing to get a good result.”

There's a lot of players currently in the under 23's that were in the under 18's last season so he's probably on about it being a good experience for 17-18 year olds to be playing against fully grown men instead of other kids the same age.

Every season we make excuses for the Under 23’s.

No more, now is the time to finally shine this season :bluebird:

Agree totally it is not as if clubs have been trying to get our under 23 players to play for them on loans in any great number and the ones who have gone out have not really done that well.
Something is wrong with the set up
