Report: Burnley want to sign £13m ex-Cardiff star Victor Camarasa

Victor Camarasa shone in the Premier League with Cardiff City but is the Real Betis man returning to Britain with Sean Dyche's Burnley?


Burnley are keen to bring Victor Camarasa back to the Premier League this summer after his impressive performances for Cardiff City, according to the Sun (15 July, page 47).

Camarasa really didn’t deserve to be relegated from the top flight two months ago. The skilful Spaniard was arguably Cardiff’s standout performer during the 2018/19 campaign, adding craft and a couple of stunning goals in Neil Warnock’s rather workmanlike side.


And there’s an argument to be made that he could make a similar impact at Burnley, a team who, like Cardiff, are built upon hard running and team work rather than an ability to carve opposition sides apart with ease.

With a £13 million release clause in his contract at current club Real Betis (Marca), Burnley wouldn’t have to break the bank to bring the former Levante man to Turf Moor either.

Estadio Deportivo claimed at the start of July that Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Leicester City were all potential destinations for Camarasa. But The Hammers and The Foxes have paid big money for Pablo Fornals and Youri Tielemans while Spurs now appear more certain than ever to hang onto Christian Eriksen.

So Burnley is not only the most likely destination now, Camarasa would stand a far greater chance of securing regular first-team football with The Clarets.

I really hope he comes back to the premier league, not sure Burnley would be the right choice for him though.

If ever there was a club that wasnt the right for Camarasa - it would be Burnley

I find it baffling that at 13m and only 24 nobody better is willing to take a punt on him.

I thought he was very good at times. mostly in the big games lost and lazy and gave the ball away too much if I'm honest

Warnock already said he'd be a first priority but he won't stay if we're in the championship. So for all we know they've already tried and failed.

I would have thought somebody like West Ham would have been in for him.
