The Bluebirds star has discussed a number of key issues

Sol Bamba has opened up on a range of topics including his injury recovery, contract situation and Cardiff City 's aims ahead of the new Championship season.

The 34-year-old starred for Cardiff last season in the Premier League but was ruled out for the rest of the 2018/19 campaign in March due to knee ligament damage.

In a wide-ranging interview on Sky Sports this morning, Bamba revealed that he is hoping to be back in action for September at the earliest.

SOL BAMBA:

"I'm in Spain now after my last visit to see the surgeon," Bamba told Sky Sports. "Hopefully I will get the green light to get on with my rehab and start training with the team by the end of August. I am hoping to get back to the competition by September/October time hopefully."

Bamba still has twelve months to run on his current Cardiff contract but has been in talks about extending his stay in Wales.

Furthermore, the French centre-back explained that the deal is all-but over the line.

"We are having ongoing talks. It's very nice and it has given me confidence that they are giving me a new deal. Hopefully I can get back fit as soon as possible to repay the faith of the club," Bamba continued.

Meanwhile, Bamba was also asked about what Cardiff's main target is for the new season after relegation from the Premier League and his answer was pretty simple.

Bamba added: "We definitely want to get back to the Premier League. If the team stays together we want to have a go and be competing with the teams fighting for automatic promotion."

One of the best signings in a long time for what he brought to the club at a time where we were struggling.

Wish he was a few years younger.

Going to be a hard man to replace.

Maybe his new contract will change after a year to Manager.
He would need a few older heads in the background to guide him,but i am sure he is capable as he talks a good game on TV.
A fans favorite as Manager would be well supported. :bluebird:

Not for me.

We are in a good place right now it would be an unnecessary risk.
