The four Cardiff City youngsters out to impress Neil Warnock in North America as another first team star is left behind

Cameron Coxe is just one of several youngsters travelling with Cardiff City to North America

Cardiff City are set to take four members of their under-23s squad on their pre-season tour of North America, but confirm that full-back Jazz Richards is to be left behind.

Irish wonderkid Aaron Bolger , who was recently signed by the Bluebirds on a permanent deal following a successful loan spell with the under-23s, has been handed a place on the plane, having already enjoyed a run out during the 5-1 win over Taff's Well.

21-year-old centre-back Ciaran Brown captained the side that evening, and will be hoping to stake his claim to a place in Warnock's thinking following his brief loan spell with Scottish side Livingston last season in which he made five first team appearances.

Similarly, this will be big chance for 20-year-old forward James Waite to convince the Yorkshireman he has what it takes to make the step up to the first team.

Waite spent a chunk of last season on loan at Hereford.

Meanwhile, although talk of a shock move to Manchester City has cooled, young full-back Cameron Coxe is also highly thought of by those in the corridors of power at Cardiff, and a place on the plane across the Atlantic may well help to ease his lingering concerns over a lack of first team opportunities.

It remains to be seen just how much of an opportunity each player will have to shine out in North America, although Warnock is set to leave several first team stars behind.

Lee Tomlin and Gary Madine have already been ruled out of the trip due to visa issues, while Sol Bamba and Callum Paterson have failed to shake off respective injury concerns.

And it's now emerged that Richards has also been left out of the 21-man squad, with the Wales international coming down with illness.

Cardiff begin their pre-season tour against San Antonio FC this weekend.

Being saying it all of last year Ciaran Brown is more than good enough to be a starting first team player already. Unfourtunetly for him he is unlikely to get a chance as we already have decent options at CB,

Alternatively we have not got a lot at right back so maybe Cameron Coxe is in with a shout this term.

He wouldn’t be playing for us if he was a wonderkid
