Tommy Robinson sentenced to six months, plus an extra three months in prison for live-streaming his political commentary outside a Muslim rape gang trial last year- 3 months added for offences from last year also added to run concurrently
Live updates from twitter:
*Therefore the total penalty -- new contempt, plus old contempt: 9 months.
*Given that Tommy has spent 10 weeks in solitary, they're gong to reduce the total penalty.
*So they'll reduce the penalty by 138 days.
*That's why they added the two sentences together, and did them consecutively -- otherwise he would walk out right now.
*They're also ordering Tommy to pay costs, but they will give his lawyer 28 days to give them submissions about costs. They're literally making him pay for his own conviction
In summary: Tommy will be sentenced to prison for 19 weeks, and will be released half-way. So that's 9.5 weeks in prison. More than two months in prison.......For journalism.
Because Tommy already served 10 weeks in solitary confinement, he will be given a certain amount of credit for "time served". There are also guidelines for mandatory early release. In the end, the judge said he will be sent to prison for 19 weeks, but let out after half of that.
Speaking after sentencing, the Attorney General said: “Today’s sentencing of Yaxley-Lennon serves to illustrate how seriously the courts will take … contempt. Posting material online that breaches reporting restrictions or risks prejudicing legal proceedings has consequences…”

‘Britain has fallen, freedom’s gone’ – Tommy Robinson asks Trump for political asylum in US
9th July , 2019
British activist Tommy Robinson, who is facing jail time in the UK, has sought political asylum in the United States, claiming that he fears for his life as “dark forces are at work” in his home country.
“I feel like I’m two days away from being sentenced to death. In the UK. For journalism,” Robinson told InfoWars on Monday after the UK High Court found him guilty of contempt. He’s now pleading with the American government to help him escape the UK, addressing President Donald Trump directly.
“I beg Donald Trump, I beg the American government, to look at my case. I need evacuation out of this country because there are dark forces at work in this nation,” Robinson stated in his video address.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/c ... 90436.htmlStephen nearly managed to let a group of paedophiles get off scott free for their awful crimes.
The book, quite rightly, has been thrown at him for it.

I noticed this morning on Sky News that they were trying to sanitise the Muslim gang by claiming they were a 'grooming' rather than a paedophile rape gang.

Why can’t he just integrate into british society and obey British laws?
Thu Jul 11, 2019 11:46 am
You can be both appalled at the rape gangs and also at Robinson's actions. He could easily have led to their acquital which would have a travesty. By all means release the videos after the trial but to do while it's on is stupid.

They didn’t draw batons when the Muslim Defence League were throwing bricks and bottles at TRs Supporters, they simply looked the other way.

Nothing to do with what I said, he would have used this method if he'd been jailed, fined or anything inbetween.
Contempt of court is a very broad crime, even breaching reporting restrictions is very broad so you can't expect the same punishment for everyone found guilty. The only valid question if you want to use that argument is 'have there ever been identical cases to this one where the defendant received a lighter sentence?'
Do you have any examples of a case where the 'journalist' was inciting hatred towards those who had yet to receive their sentences, attempting to bring the judicial system into disrepute through claims of a cover up, and live streaming all of this directly at the scene where the reporting-restriced event was taking place? He was also 'reporting' at one in a series of linked trials which means his actions could have had wider implications outside of that one trial.

STEVEN YAXLEY-LENNON BROKE THE LAW. It is not up for debate.
Journalists know the rules, and they don't break them.
He's a repeated offender. Quite how this utter, utter bellend has a hold over so many people I don't know. He's entered countries as an illegal immigrant, he's beaten up muslims repeatedly, he's committed fraud. He is not a poster boy, he's just a tw*t.

Paedophile Rapist not sent to prison because he didn’t know it was against the law to have sex with a 13 year old.
Police officer not sent to prison despite having hundreds of indecent photos of very young children.
Someone sent to prison today (we all know what for)
The establishment have been proven to have lied to get this conviction.
Time to wake up to WHY HE WAS PUT IN PRISON today.
Political Prisoners are held in this country look up Melanie Shaw as well to see this is true.

He's not a political prisoner. He broke the law. It really is that simple.
His actions nearly let an entire paedophile ring escape scott free.

No, they were still deliberating in the jury. This is a complete and utter fabrication.

THE MEDIA SAYS
How did the case get to this point?
22 May 2017: Robinson was given a three-month suspended sentence for contempt of court after filming on the steps of court and inside the building during the trial of four men who were convicted , which Robinson described as "Muslim child rapists".
25 May 2018: Robinson live-streamed to Facebook a video of him outside Leeds Crown Court discussing the trial of members of a Huddersfield grooming gang accused of child sex offences - this is the incident today' sentencing relates to.
1 August 2018: Robinson was originally sentenced to 13 months in jail at the time of the offence, but he only served two months after the contempt finding was overturned and was released.
23 October 2018: The case was referred back to Attorney General Geoffrey Cox.
7 March 2019: The attorney general decided it was in the public interest to bring fresh contempt of court proceedings against the right-wing activist and a hearing was set for later in the month.
14 May 2019: A delayed hearing sees High Court judges approve the proposal to bring fresh proceedings against Robinson.
5 July 2019: Robinson is found in contempt of court in three respects over the incident in Leeds.

Could you link the top 2 (and then explain the relevance to this court proceeding)
I looked up Melanie Shaw and she got sentenced for, amongst other things: arson, threatening to kill someone, and breaking a restraining order.
They weren't convicted and maybe you should actually see what he did before saying that he only read their names. He went up and filmed them and incited violence against them (including a completely innocent person).
Freedom of speech doesn't equal freedom of consequences (e.g. you can't go to an airport and shout that you've got a bomb without expecting consequences)

So he's done it before, and then he did it again? I can turn round and call someone a f*cking bellend if I want to. Now, that person would probably lamp me but it's still free speech. I can say what I like but there may be consequences.
Robinson did the square root of f**k all to bring these men to justice, he just nearly got them away with it.

I'm very angry about this. A working class man can go to jail for highlighting under reporting of race driven peadophilia.
Yet some on here are "equally" appalled at TR. Brain washed Wrong uns.
