Two Cardiff City stars refused entry into America because of criminal records as summer tour plans suffer blow
Lee Tomlin and Gary Madine are not on the pre-season tour and could end up playing with the under-23s instead

Lee Tomlin and Gary Madine are not on the pre-season tour and could end up playing with the under-23s instead
Cardiff City duo Lee Tomlin and Gary Madine will miss out on the club's tour of America after being denied visas to enter the country.
The pair would have been keen to impress on the Bluebirds' visit to the US - with both looking to change their fortunes after so far struggling in south Wales.
However, neither will get the opportunity, with America's strict policy on visa applications putting a block on their plans.
It's understood Tomlin and Madine have been denied visas to enter the US due to their criminal records.
In November 2017, Tomlin pleaded guilty to affray and was ordered to perform 80 hours of community service after an early-hours brawl in Leicester.
While Madine was sentenced to 18 months in jail in 2013 after being found guilty of assault - being released after four-and-a-half months.
As such, they will be unable to join their team-mates in flying out on Thursday.
Instead, they could potentially join first-team coach Ronnie Jepson with the under-23 team for fixtures in Devon and Cornwall. Whether they head to the West Country will depend on their individual programmes.
But not being able to play under Warnock in America will come as a blow to both players, with Tomlin in particular having been on the comeback trail this summer after returning to the club in good shape and keen to break into the Yorkshireman's plans.
It is understood however that Warnock is keen on giving Tomlin a chance this summer to prove himself.
The playmaker recently spoke movingly about his mental health struggles, admitting he contemplated taking his own life.
Madine too will be keen to resolve his future - whether that is with the Bluebirds or elsewhere - and missing a high-profile tour will do little to help him either cement his place in Warnock's thinking or put himself in the shop window.
The Bluebirds will also be without Sol Bamba and Callum Paterson for the trip stateside, with the duo continuing their rehab after serious injuries.

Sounds like an admin cock up to me. They would be denied automatic entry to the USA under the ESTA system, but could apply for a personal hearing to get a VISA at the US Embassy in London. This does not mean they automatically get allowed in, but as members of a sports team they would stand more chance. But the club would have had to apply a couple of months ago to be sure of getting it done in time.

Yeah it's far too much hassle (plus time constraints,since they probably only organised the trip a month or so ago) when they can just play with the U23s

When these games were arranged, City would of thought both players would of left Cardiff by now, so No application would of been made.
