Young talent again!

Mon Jul 08, 2019 3:05 pm

Just reading that the premier leagues youngest player at 16yrs as rejected scholarship with Fulham for a move to liverpool He cannot turn professional until next year when hes 17! So liverpool only have to pay compensation they have recently sighned another youngster van der burg from a Dutch side for a maximum £4.5 they ultimately stand to gain untold millions if both make it to top and are sold on later.... so what chance as city or any other academies got when big clubs can take what they want when they want.? People have bashed club for not bringing on young talent but is there any point if get taken before they can be of use to city.?

System is broken.

Didn't one team sack off their whole academy to purely pick off the dregs of PL academies?

you have to wonder now whats the point of championship clubs having academy's when Liverpool and Man city are constantly doing this. robbie montardo or whatever his name is stolen off us then sold on for £10m without playing a game for Man city We should of had at least two thirds of that money, makes my blood boil :x

Clubs only get compensation set by a commission which obviously favours big clubs because there is no right to a sell on clause like normal transfers.... clubs are often left with average players who may or may not make it to 1st team and beyond?

Brentford I believe. They're a very modern club and I'd go that way too. We've had 2 of our best academy players taken for tiny nominal fees to City and United.
