Neil warnocks successor ?

Sun Jul 07, 2019 7:19 pm

Any ideas where we go when he calls it a day ? Heard he’s helping with picking his replacement? Do you think his recommendation will depend on where we are come the end of the season or do you think he has one set man ? I think he’s going to pick some one similar too him in terms of tactics style of play. Any ideas ? Who would you like too see take over ? Any ideas of Ronnie jepson and Kevin Blackwell would take the reigns ?

It all depends on what division we are in next season I suppose.

I wouldn’t be that keen on Jepson or Blackwell trying to keep us in the premier league. I could see them staying if we don’t get promoted.

If we went up go all out for Rafa he wants a project with big potential look no further pal.

Going back to my post I would really like to see Bellamy as the next cardiff manager working with Kevin Blackwell and Ronnie jepson, I think this season Bellamy will learn a lot more about the game and could be the man to steer us in a new direction. Always impressed with his knowledge of the game and if we get promoted this season and back him with a healthy transfer budget for a new premier league season I could see it turning out well. He will have a good knowledge of the Belgian league and with the players we have here already mixed with some decent additions from Belgium we could become and established premier league team, what do you reckon ?

Rafa would be a touch of class, would we back him with enough funds though ? I’d really like for tan to get his love for us back and push us on to better things !

Rafa..... What?
He's on 18M contract

Wouldn't want Bellamy that's for sure.

Also wouldn't want Jepson or Blackwell. To early to he thinking about it really, a lot can happen in 12 months.

Tough question as we have no idea where we will be. If in the championship then I really think Danny Cowley is a no brainer, his football is very similar to ours, from formation to style of play. Really think he would be a perfect fit and would satisfy that role of an exciting young manager a lot of people are after.

If we get promoted I would say it is far harder to say. I would like Christophe Pelissier. Manager who has managed promotion after promotion with a tiny side and then managed to take Amiens into Ligue 1.

The main thing is it will be essential to find a manager who fits the team rather than trying to find the team to fit the manager. The managers I mentioned both play defensive counter attacking football which would be comparable to ours (according to information I've read, have to be honest I havent actually watched either team).

It’s in China the kit man is probably on 18 million as well.

Nobody ever ends up staying over there for very long.

Sol Bamba looks like he is getting ready for management.
He speaks and presents himself very well. Is confident in front of the cameras when being a pundit and has a very good knowledge of football and especially the british game.

He could be worth a shout if he decides to hang his boots up soon.

Maybe with Warnock staying as director of football

I could see that working, so long as Neil Warnock stays as a mentor in some capacity

Maybe a 'Director of Football' type role; although I'm not sure Mehemt Dalman isn't currently carrying that role out in reality

Or is it time to make the change and try for a different type of football. Tbh I think our players have more about them to play a different type of football if the manager wanted.

We definitely have the players to begin a new style of football. The only thing you'd need to change would be the centre halves to ones more comfortable on the ball. And perhaps a sweeper-keeper.

Fred West or Peter Sutcliffe, both good with their hands on approach and no nonsense style

I'm sure Tim Sherwood and Glenn Hoddle will be up there on the odds. Always are.

Think thats being a bit harsh on our CB's tbh. Manga is comfatable on the ball and so Is Bamba on the whole and ive heard a few people say that Curtis Nelson is also very good with the ball at his feet. Morrison might struggle mind  In terms of future manager id quite like to see Nigel Adkins who im a big fan of, after seeing what he did at Scunthorpe and Southampton as well as the fantastic job he did at Hull getting them playing good football and no where near relegation like people thought they'd be and on a tiny budget. But what will be will be i guess :)

Manga is decent, I agree. Bamba is getting on and is either Beckenbauer or Bambi. I'll be honest, I don't know what to expect with Curtis Nelson and yes, Morro definitely not suited to it. Full backs wise, Cameron Cozxe is a modern full-back and young. And Joe Bennett goes up and down.

I personally wouldn't take Adkins, not the attacking type and a dying breed of manager. You've got to go modern and bring in a young manager with that sort of attacking thinking and get a director of football, but many clubs have tried and failed!

Personally I think the club have made great progress so far, and switching to a new style would feel like starting again. If we can bring a manager in who can keep up the work of Warnock it will have been a great appointment.

Nigel Adkins teams are known for playing attacking modern football tbf. His Southampton team would attack everyone in the championship and even in the prem they had a go at every team. I thought Hull City were great to watch last season and were one of the most attacking teams in the championship which shows in the goals the scored. Anyway its all about opinions. We'll probably end up with Tony "Anti-Football" Pulis anyway

I know he's hardly anti-football, but scoring 66 and conceding 68 is worrying. I'd have taken Pulis 2, 3 years ago. Wouldn't go near him now
