might be unpopular but is warnock good enough to attract a decent striker? i know we were unlucky with sala but we havnt had a decent striker since chopra and bothroyd is it the managers or club at fault ,wheres the youngsters coming through?

I know people moan on here but ive yet to leave a ground after a win and hear anyone moan because a striker didn't score the goal..

Wez its difficult to say as in truth we have not played a way that gives any forward a chance to show what they are capable of? Only need to look at Murphy ward ect to see that. We need a forward thinking coach I feel before goalscoring is prominant at CCS ..

Bit of an over exaggeration.

We’ve been promoted to the premier league twice since they left something they couldn’t manage.

I’d say Frazier Campbell was better then the pair of them in the promotion season scored the goals in the games when it mattered.

They scored lots of goals but they only did it in bursts they wasn’t very consistent they’d both go a few games with out a goal.

you have to score to win so I think its pretty prominent no matter who the manager is...

here is a list of the seasons we have scored the most goals at this level in the 59 years since the 90 we got in 1959/60

1st.....76 goals....2010/11....DJ
2nd.....73goals......2009/10.....DJ
3rd.....72goals.......2012/13....MM
4th.....69 goals......2017/18.....NW

we also got 52 in NWs first season here 1.48 gls per game which if extended over 46 games would be 5th on the list..

goals are important who scores them is not...

Very true it doesnt matter which scores last promotion we had around 6 players scoring 10 or more goals ! But this post is about strikers so response is related to strikers not midfielders or defenders...

yes it is, some people are pre occupied by having one bloke score 20....but you went on to say about a forward thinking coach...there is little wrong with us going forward or in fact our forwards if your scoring goals especially with so little possession whether they happen to be the ones that have the final touch or not..

I think Warnock himself said when he signed Reid that his record on signing strikers wasn’t great so was hoping Reid would be the one. Which is a little strange as I don’t see Reid being a striker to lead the line in a Warnock team although I think he can be a cracking number 10.

Im trying to think of strikers he has brought in:
Bogle - he doesn’t seem to like/rate
Niasse failed to score
Ward goes his best but massively injury prone.
Medine I can see why he was brought in when he was but at the same time he has failed to make much of an impact and doesn’t seem wanted by NW

That’s 8m excluding Niasse who no doubt we paid a loan fee for and in my opinion none better than what we already had in Zohore. I’m not including Reid who I think is a good player but if he was brought in as a striker then your pushing nearly 20m spent.

If we are to spend big on a striker he has to get it right.

“is warnock good enough to attract a decent striker?”
Im not totally sure what you mean by this but I think players will go where the money is and if we pay a big fee the player will want a big wage.

Warnock admits in his autobiography (which is a good read) that his history of picking strikers is terrible,he wrote that in 2013.
Nothing he's done since is likely to have changed his mind.
But having said that ,he hasn't done a bad job over the last 30 months with us.
So perhaps it's the team ethics more than an individual striker, that's important.
