Just heard a little whisper that we’ve put a bid in for the county keeper. Thoughts?

Wouldn't surprise me as he would make a useful second string keeper. If true I think it means we expect Etheridge to be going and Smithies to be no 1.

Have to be honest don't really want to see us signing a 28 year old GK from League 2 even it he is just back up.

Personally I see a big difference between signing a league 1 GK when we had to, due to where we were financially and the fact we were not an attractive club at the time, to where we are now as a club that's just come out the premier league and should be looking at Gk's that are playing at a higher level. In all honestly Id rather see young George Ratcliffe promoted if he's as good as a lot of people are saying he is  But I don't see this signing happening anyway along with the other 15 players we've already been linked with so far

Think that was just an unsubstantiated rumour and cant see him going anywhere with the likelihood of more bids coming in for Etheridge.

Get a decent fee - £15m+ - for Etheridge and I’d totally take that. If the lad Ratcliffe is as good as some people are saying, him and Day could offer good competition for the back up spot

And keep Murphy as a back up. Should be fine with that. Murphy has never let us down when called upon
