A man and a woman are set to face charges over a mortuary photograph of footballer Emiliano Sala, Wiltshire Police said.


Sherry Bray, 48, and Christopher Ashford, 62, will both appear in court after a distressing image appeared on social media. Bray of Corsham, has been summonsed for three counts of computer misuse, perverting the course of justice and sending an indecent/offensive message.

Ashford of Calne, has been summonsed in relation to six counts of computer misuse.

Both will appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on July 10.


The Air Accident Investigations Branch (AAIB) took the body to Portland before being passed over to the Dorset coroner, who formally identified it as Sala. Anthony Johns, senior lawyer for the Crown Prosecution Service, said: "Following a careful review of the evidence provided to me by Wiltshire Police, I have authorised the police to summons Sherry Bray to appear in court where she will be formally charged with three offences of computer misuse, perverting the course of public justice and sending an indecent/offensive message.

"I have also authorised Wiltshire Police to summons Christopher Ashford to appear in court where he will be formally charged with six offences of computer misuse.

"The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against the defendants are now active and that they have the right to a fair trial. ‘It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."

Despicable act by the pair of them,hope they get some prison time,but that's not likely imagine if his family got to see the images vile excuses for human beings.

WTF! would you be happy for someone to take a photo of your dead relative (in the condition poor emiliano was after recovery),and post it on social media,for the world to see absolutely absurd response imho were you the same poster that offered to share the image to anyone who was sick enough to look at the time he is somebody's son ffs,the public,including the sick tw@ts on trial,had no right to be even viewing this image,disgusts me to the core if I'm honest.nobody was asking "for the keys to be thrown away",just a sentence to let the public know,this kind of behaviour is not acceptable and your idea of censorship is warped,if you believe you had the right to even view those images

the censorship line puzzles me too...I don't think joe public has any right at all to be looking at hacked mortuary photos.and it has zero to do with censorship. what will people feel they have a right to next ?
personally I haven't seen them, don't want to see them and cant figure out why anyone would want to see them..

I don't know the ins and outs so I will hold my tongue a bit but these people actually hacked someone's computer with the intent of obtaining the images to be pushed on (possibly for a monetory gain?) didn't they?

That's pretty scummy and I think a custodial sentence would probably be justified.

You have it pretty much spot on,as I've alluded to already,Im not saying throw away the keys as he has said,but a sentence nonetheless, I would be mortified if that had just popped up on my social media (luckily I only post on here,no Facebook or twitter for me ) I can't get my head around, why he just sees it as just something distasteful myself,an odd view in my honest opinion,but someone definately offered to share that image on here,I'm positive. Perhaps a mod or someone with more savvy than me,can find it?_why anyone would want to look at something so vile puzzles me still.horifice episode,just pray that his family didn't get to see it,although I'd imagine they were made aware of the issue.god rest his poor soul.
