GK Replacement

OK lets say that Smithies does go out on loan

or worst still Smithies goes and Etheridge is sold (just like the Marshall, Lewis season)

Who would be a suitable replacement? I don't really know too many GK's at the moment, let alone decent ones!

It cannot be allowed to get to that situation.

Don't think it's the answer to the question you asked. But I don't see Etheridge going anywhere and I don't think we'll get a back up replacement. I see our 3 goalkeepers as

(Main) Etheridge
(Backup) George Ratcliffe
(Reserve) Murphy

I actually wouldn't be surprised if we sell Etheridge because, judging on his recent quotes, I think he wants to have another crack at the Premiership and, at his age, why shouldn't he after the ups and downs in his career ?

However, if we do sell him it must be for £10m+ because we would need a replacement (even if it's a No 2 if Smithies stays) and we would want money to add to the transfer budget.

I'd love Etheridge to stay though.

Quite a lot of good GK's out there atm. But id take David Marshall as back up if Smithies went.

He did an interview when he was linked with a transfer in January he stated he’d come back to Cardiff if he had the opportunity
