Difference between a fan and a supporter. I have always been a City supporter but have also been a Liverpool fan since Toshack was transferred from us to them. I am also a fan of good football, and although I have never particularly liked Leeds as a club, I admired their team when Revie was there, and their style of football. Cardiff are the only team I can ever support, but I can alsoappreciate good football played by other teams.

I didn't bother watching the game yesterday because Cardiff weren't playing.

I have no "second team".

I hate every other team when we play them and couldn't care less if they win or lose when they're not playing us.

Could only watch Match of The Day when we won last season - didn't watch it if we lost.

Never been to a live football game that didn't involve Cardiff City (not bothered about international football).

Not that bothered about football really - except for the Mighty Bluebirds! :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

I know - I'm very strange.

As romantic as that is how many thousands of fans would we lose if that was the case.

Yep, I don't care if welsh people support english teams, that's thats their buisness but I cringe when they refer to each as scousers and mancs

I only really toke it as far as professional clubs.

I don't give a f**k who people support anyway. It would be boring if we all supported the same team.

You think currently we have "thousands " of fans who reside in the City's of Swansea and Newport?

fans that live closer to those clubs than they do to us, yes thousands..down west places like neath, port talbot, maesteg , llanelli , all have a strong Cardiff following..as does newport itself..be interesting to know how many there are on our data base with those postcodes , think youd be surprised..

I don't have a problem with the people who actually go to games at their chosen clubs, but I hate the people who strut around in their Liverpool or Man U shirts talking about we this, and we that, and have never set foot in Anfield or OT. I ask them if they want to "support" a team 200 miles away, why not Bury or Lincoln City and the like. Couldn't believe the amount of people jumping around in the pub when Liverpool scored, but there were a few of us telling them to shut the feck up.

We have thousands of fans who's local Club is not Cardiff City.

I wouldn't like to put a figure on it tbh but if you said to our fan base that they should support the Club closest to them (local club) them you would be wiping out more than a few 'thousands' and I'd be one as if you go by the way the crow flies Merthyr and Newport are closer to me.

Those areas don't have a professional club in their own areas. They aren't jacks so shouldn't be linked to Swansea.

My issue is People and I've got friends and relative's born in Cardiff not 5 minutes from our ground choosing to pick a team over 100miles away rather than Cardiff.

Your digging too much into it. I support my local village side when Cardiff aren't playing but I'm referring to professional clubs , there are so many Cardiffians supporting a club miles away in a city they've never even visited.

tbh mate for years we were so poor it encouraged people to look elsewhere..
the positive here is these that are interested in football enough to...be a fan of but not watch a top 6 team ...are there to be won over...….its what has happened down west and happened here last season...
I think we are recovering really well after those 18 years of lower league football myself..

Maybe, but the concept is the same, Newport and Merthyr fans probably post something similar on their message boards when we went up.

There was only 1 division between us and Merthyr when I started watching Cardiff and I'm sure Merthyr fans could say that if all the people who support Cardiff but live closer to them followed them they could be a League Club.
