Loan fees

Sat Jun 01, 2019 3:58 pm

I see Derby paid £3 m loan fee last season for Harry Wilson and Liverpool are asking £4m next season. I wonder how much we forked out for Arter and all the others?

I would have thought at least £3m for our three loanees as they’re more experienced and Arter was supposed to be on £50k a week. Even so called free transfers usually contain a signing on fee and of course all transfers now have agents fees. That’s why people on here saying we only spent 27m on transfers are talking rubbish! If you look at our accounts we spent over 56m!

I’d pay £4M for Wilson for a year.

And look where is got Derby, no where and now a huge rebuilding job to be done and 3m gone.

We should not be paying large loan fees in the championship imo.

Andrew, he would be a great signing for us but that would be a heavy cost! :thumbright: :ayatollah:

I think he will end up at a lower premier league side on loan, would be a great signing but 4m for a year when we need to strengthen in other areas first would mean a no from me

Not corrected, mate. We'd all love him here but at £4m it could be argued whether that sum could've better spent and it is simply down to opinion  :ayatollah:

I mentioned these fees in another thread a few weeks ago and got shot down.
People need to realise that loans are not free and take a big chunk out of transfer budgets, Arter alone last season would have cost us £5mill+

How have you seen this season's accounts?

Good question WP I'm pretty sure they haven't been published yet.

Where has anybody thought loans were free?

You got shot down because you made up some mad theory

You are almost certainly correct as I am pretty sure our accounting year end is 31 May, so that's only two days ago! Most private companies keep their cards close to their chest and don't publish until close to the legal filing date which in our case would be 28 February. We don't usually publish until at least December.

I'm not sure if the loan fee includes the parent club continuing to pay his wages or wages on top of the fee, if anyone can shed any light on this

No I just showed how much Warnock had spent or had been given on wages and I was pretty much bang on thanks.
Loan deals cost and contribute to transfer budgets wether you like it or not

No what you did was add wages and transfer fees together to make it sound like we had wasted loads of money.
It was a bit weird because nobody does that.

And that last point is even weirder NOBODY DISAGREES THAT LOANS COST MONEY!

No I said that it costs money to loan players like Arter, Camarasa and Niasse. We probably spent £10mill plus on those 3 players over the year. Where do you think that money comes from, The money tree behind the Canton stand ?
It comes from the playing budget we have to sign players, that's a fact. As does the 50k+ a week wages.
Your obviously not a businessman and have no idea how budgets work.

every one of these deals is unique. there is not always a loan fee but if there is ,the chances are the club being loaned the player are also picking up the wage bill...

Re: Loan fees

The club has never published any details of loan fees or players wages at all. So last year we don't know if we did indeed pay loan fees for our loanees. But I imagine Arter (£50kpw has been mentioned) and Niasse were on massive money, not sure so much about Camarasa. But it was money spent to keep us up. We won't be paying out that sort of cash next season.
