Cardiff have option to sign Niasse, decision could be made in June
Daily Times
Wednesday 29th May 2019
Cardiff are yet to release their retained list for 2018/19 which leaves Oumar Niasse’s future up in the air. The 29-year-old spent the second-half of the season on loan at Cardiff, making 13 appearances in all competitions, and Paul Joyce of The Times says the Bluebirds have the option to buy Niasse this summer.
Cardiff released their 2017/18 retained list on June 13, 2018 so this season’s list may still be a fortnight away from being revealed. It’s likely to state that Niasse has returned to Everton following his loan spell in Wales and the club have opted against triggering his buying option.
Niasse failed to score a single goal at Cardiff and may be too expensive for a club in the Championship.
According to Spotrac, the Senegalese international earns £2.86m-a-year/£55k-per-week, which is far too steep a salary for a newly-relegated club to pay. Niasse could cost Cardiff up to £10m this summer too which doesn’t provide value for money given his form in the last five months. Cardiff would be better off turning their attentions elsewhere.
As for Niasse, his career is currently at a crossroads. He’s unwanted by Everton and has just one year remaining on his contract at Goodison Park, leaving him little choice but to push for a move rather than spend 2019/20 on the periphery.

I'm sure we will take that option up.

I’m not so sure.
He will have to drop his salary by a huge amount and then there’s the fact that he didn’t score a single goal whilst here.
Yes, he may well become good playing in a league lower but for 10mill it’s a no for me.

not worth 10 million
Wed May 29, 2019 11:27 am
No for me

Its a no from me.

Personally I think he would rip the Championship apart and him and Reid would be amazing.
However not at 56,000 a week.
Wed May 29, 2019 11:29 am
I hope not. Personally I think there's better about for the money. Unless he takes a 40k aweek pay cut

no thanks

He started well and got worse with each successive game by the end he was awful never looked remotely like scoring or even creating any chances for anyone else. Should not even have picked him for the last few games Zohore Ward or Reid would have done a better job. £10 million is lunacy, looking at the Everton message board most of their fans would be happy to see him leave on a free just to get him off the wage bill.

Can we sign someone thats scores goals, niasse,0 madine,0 surely for 10 million that would be throwing money away,
bloody hell brooks went for 12 million i know he's not a striker but he was' nt a waste of money either.

I think he would tear the Championship apart and not only that, when we get promoted, he would have gelled with our side and been “used” to scoring again.
For me I’d be a little creative on the salary front:
£35,000 per week
With a £2m promotion bonus
That could totally exceed what he is on now without the risk

I don't think he was as bad as some people make out but I wouldn't be looking to sign him personally
Wed May 29, 2019 12:56 pm
He would be awesome in the championship go get him I say. Wages a stumbling block of sorts though.
Wed May 29, 2019 1:04 pm
On those wages, even reduced and at that fee, I think Warnock will find a better option.
His work rate is outstanding, but he is just not good enough in front of goal, at this level we will create more chances, so need more than just workrate, we need someone who will stay up there and smack the ball in when he gets a chance!
He'll probably have a hard working five in midfield to do the running!

thought his biggest weakness was his lack of awareness of where our other players were or were likely to be going...so bit puzzled by this him and reid thing I keep reading tbh..

No.
The money can be better spent.
Wed May 29, 2019 1:30 pm
Surely this has to be a wind up?? I was going to compare him to Ronnie Moore but at least Ronnie Moore scored for us.
Wed May 29, 2019 1:41 pm
10m!!

I wouldn't sign him for 5m! Works hard but cant control the ball, has no awareness of whats around him, cant score, and has no footballing brain. Its like watching bambi on ice at times. The fact Warnock dropped him from the squad completely for the last 2 games speaks volumes. We wont be going back in for him.

Would score loads of goals in the championship. Get Madine out and Niasse in
Wed May 29, 2019 1:47 pm
Those who saw his 'performance' at Fulham will know exactly what to do with that.
He was gutless, spineless and scared to shoot that day - I wouldn't want him anywhere near us - I'd rather Madine and he's a donkey

i think we are safer to leave him alone and go for a better striker
Wed May 29, 2019 2:42 pm
That option doesn't really count any more for obvious reasons.
In the real world £4m/5m plus reduced salary and I'd like to see him stay.
The problem is that he might want to sit there and collect till his contract's gone.
Maybe they could calculate his remaining salary at Everton and subtract it , or half of it, from the fee.
It'd be a good move for all parties
Wed May 29, 2019 3:04 pm
10mil for a player who didn’t score? I admit he may well be a good player at Championship level but he’ll have to have a two/three year contract so if by luck we get immediately promoted will he be an asset in the Premier League? It’s a no from me.
Wed May 29, 2019 3:14 pm
I don't know where people are getting he would score plenty in the championship from. He has never played in the championship and failed to score in 20 games for us and Everton this season in the premier. Just accept he is crap,Everton fans have, all work rate and zero end product.

seen loads of players and ex players absolutely slaughtered after putting in double that...
and it wasn't just Fulham...

Massive NO from me. Terrible finisher and terrible end product. Why on earth would you fork out 10 million for a striker who didnt score us a single goal last season

No way of knowing that.
