VILLA TRANSFER MEETING

29/05/19

Aston Villa’s hierarchy is meeting with manager Dean Smith in Birmingham tonight to discuss the club’s transfer strategy, a day after winning promotion to the Premier League, Sky Sports News understands.

Chief executive Christian Purslow, together with sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch, want to move quickly to begin re-structuring the squad, and avoid the problems suffered by other promoted teams in the past who have gone up via the play-offs and found themselves behind their competitors in terms of transfer planning.

We’ve been told the three men will begin to draw up a shortlist of transfer targets, as well as discussing which of Villa’s loan players they wish to pursue - with Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham, Manchester United’s Axel Tuanzebe and Bournemouth’s Tyrone Mings thought to be top of their list.

Villa’s out-of-contract players are also on the agenda. They are: Albert Adomah, Mile Jedinak, Alan Hutton, Glenn Whelan and Tommy Elphick.

None of the sides going up this season are anywhere near as good as Wolves were last year so they will all struggle unless they significantly improve their squads.

To buy the 3 loan players mentioned will cost about £50 million

So, basically a huge chunk of their transfer budget will be gone before they even start to strengthen their squad!!

Going to be long hard seasons for all 3 promoted teams

Dont see them being able to buy Tammy Abraham. Firstly I would be surprised if Chelsea sold him, and second if he was sold he would go to a better club than Villa I would of thought.

Plenty of poor sides in the prem as well though so wont be that much between those near the bottom doubt anyone will be as bad as Huddersfield or Fulham next year.

Should be a quick meet, they’re under FFP investigation, having posted heavy loss in the last 3 years.
