Here's how the bookies think the table will look next term:*

The 2019/20 Championship table predicted after Aston Villa beat Derby County and where Cardiff, Swansea City, Leeds United and others will finish

Tuesday 28th May 2019

The 2018/19 Championship has finally ended.

Both Cardiff City and Swansea City will be playing in the second tier next term, meaning two South Wales derbies will be among the fixtures for the 2019/20 campaign.

The Welsh pair will be joined by Huddersfield Town and Fulham who were both relegated - along with the Bluebirds - from the Premier League while Luton Town, Barnsley and Charlton Athletic have all come up from League One.

Derby County will remain in the division after being beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa at Wembley on Monday afternoon.

And following the play-off final between the Villans and the Rams, both the Bluebirds and the Swans know their full list of opponents for the upcoming season.

Here's how the bookies think the table will look next term:*

1 Fulham - (5/2 to gain promotion; 7/1 to win the title)

2 Leeds - (5/2 to gain promotion; 8/1 to win the title)

3 West Brom - (3/1 to gain promotion; 9/1 to win the title)

6 Huddersfield Town - (7/2 to gain promotion; 14/1 to win the title)

9 Sheffield Wednesday - (9/2 to gain promotion; 16/1 to win the title; 14/1 to be relegated)

10 Brentford - (6/1 to gain promotion; 20/1 to win the title; 10/1 to be relegated)

Cardiff - who are managed by the manager who has been promoted more times than any other manager and have a stronger squad than the last time we went up - more likely to be relegated than Stoke who finished 16th last season? :?

How do they make Fulham favourite to be promoted? Got untried manager in the hardest league to get out from against the best in the business for doing such things? Must assume they think their owner is going to throw another 100m at it again? :laughing6:

they have a strong squad who massively under achieved last season.. neither us or them should be anywhere near relegation..

Yeah I’m not undermining Stoke by any means, I’m just pointing out that statistically, a team finishing two points off safety (after a controversial season with regards to refereeing decisions) in the division above a team who finished 16th would be more likely to avoid relegation in the division below rather than vice versa. I expect Stoke to rebuild this summer and challenge for the play offs this year.

They were rubbish in the Championship before Mitrovic came in to get them the goals, they will need to replace him to be in contention.

but if its Fulham your on about their form had turned and were scoring plenty of goals before they signed mitrovic.

the 7 games immediately prior to him joining P 7 .W6.D1.L0...GF 22

Stoke tried that, it’s no necessarily money you need in the championship, more know how and the right type of player.
I can’t see Leeds being up there either, reckon the end to this season will see them start badly.....

Perhaps he means Arnautavic the West Ham Guy.

that would be even more confusing...didn't play in the championship for Stoke. and wasn't exactly scoring for fun either..

Thing is with fulham the owner, can afford to throw more money at it ,not saying this is the right way
but he was hoping to buy wembley at one point, so i don't think money is an issue, plus its worked for man city.

Money might not be an issue but FFP will be if they go that route.

They may gamble like Villa, who clearly must have broken FFP rules this season but got away with it by being promoted. Bournemouth did this recently too. But teams have to be really sure they can sustain Premier League membership or they can end up being financially clobbered like QPR who are still trying to sort out the mess from 5 years ago.

I think sometimes people forget that wealthy owners are no longer allowed to buy success like ManCity have done with the new FFP rules - and even Man City are coming under close scrutiny.

I think Fulham and Leeds are a bit high - I'd have West Brom on the top next year and Stoke to get into the playoffs. Other than that, the next 12 places are up for grabs!
