Striker options, who do we get ???

Tue Apr 30, 2019 12:07 pm

All the Strikers are failing, not sure the most successful is probably the right back Patterson?

Zohore, Niasse, Ward, Bogle, Healey, Reid, Patterson, none of them really seem to have what it takes, if we drop down can we rely on any of the above, or are we in the market for a Striker again, and who ???

I said last year before any buys priority was a striker, I wanted Mitrovic or above and a keeper, Fabianski or above.

We needed the Striker that plain to see, not sure if Sala would have got the goals to keep us up, and Etheridge stepped up to the mark.

This year I would say Striker is the most important position followed now by central midfield but who, and what happens to the rest?

All those strikers lack something but then you have to start to think maybe its not just the strikers, maybe its the way we set up. The amount of running they have to do with very little service of quality.

For me Ward starts v Palace.

same here , very surprised at the amount of striker threads from people that watch us play , youd swear there was chance after chance going begging and we just need someone to knock them in where the reality is they burn most of their energy backing into centre halves to compete for 60 yard launches or running into the corners. the only really decent ball ive seen in the last few games that was played into the path of someone for a shot was the one that bobbled up when it hit a divert at Burnley as Hoilet hit it..
as you say very little service..

It is the way we set up. We are so negative. Out possession rate must be the lowest of all league clubs. We need to change our outlook on games and try to dominate possession and attack teams. The way we play Messi would fail to score. Come on Warnock have s last hurrah and go for it in the Championship next season.

Until Warnock alters or changes our playing style it doesn't matter who u put up front tbh. You could stick Neal Maupay or Che Adams in this team in the championship and they wouldn't get many chances and would be asked to run the channels and hold the ball up with very little support around them. Its a thankless job playing up front in a Warnock team unfortunately. Warnock's even mentioned his lack of ability in getting good strikers in his autobiography however its probably more to do with how we set up.

getting 1 striker isn’t going to solve our problems there not going to run past the defence and score we need to change our tactics up if we want to score more

As suggested mid way though our premiership season by phildavies and endorsed by myself as a good shout BUT Now much too late - Just gone to Chinese super league. :banghead:

Marcos Vinicius Amaral Alves , 24 year old, Brazilian Striker who has been playing in the Korean K league for 2 seasons. 2017 playing in K league 2 - appearances 32 with 22 Goals. 2018 playing in K League 1 - appearances 31 with 26 goals.

I know that the Korean K League is not a top league BUT surely worth a look at least?

Yes in the Championship a good Striker would solve a lot of problems, we play slightly less defensive there anyway and the defenders are not as good !!!

Reid, zohore and ward are all capable strikers in my eyes need new midfielders

Need them too, and a better Striker that can hold up play and score, we really need someone that can score with his head from crosses and corners and long throws !!!

Can’t just go signing any old Brazilian
