Warnock is too old...?

Sat Apr 27, 2019 10:54 pm

I’ve seen a few posts suggesting that NW is too old to do the job.

Ok, 70 is a remarkable age to be in a high stress job like football management, especially in the Premier League.

However, there are other examples of men of that sort of age doing a pretty good job, thank you very much:

Dick Advocaat
Guus Huddinck
Roy Hodgson
Arsene Wenger
Sir Alex Ferguson.

Point made I think.

One last thing - If I look as good as Warnock at 70 I’ll be happy!! (I don’t look that good now lol)

Its not about physical age, its whats the plan because we have twice got promoted playing championship football thats just not suited to the premier league,
I look at the Jacks or Wolves getting promoted with less points than us but staying there longer due to their style, The likelihood is they'll be 19 better teams than us so constantly and needlessly giving them the ball seems daft,

To bed in a new midfield and possibly philosophy may take more than one season, we need continuity as its obvious we dont have the money to have too many mistakes

Fair comment. Sustainability is the name of the game I guess. There’s no doubt that last season was bossed in Championship but there doesn’t seem to be a plan B when top tier beckons. However, it’s not solely down to Warnock. He has been given some authority over who gets signed but with a billionaire owner, there should be more funds available (financial fair play taken into account).

It’s annoying that Wolves and Swampsea get mentioned all the time, but again it’s down to approach and development. Having said that, Swansea aren’t getting promoted this season so they have rebuilding to do as well by the look of it.

It isn’t over till it’s over but yesterday was a body blow. Where there’s life there’s hope but realistically Championship may be on the cards next year.
