NEIL WARNOCK:
Mendez-Laing's return to form
“Hopefully, the penny’s dropped with him. He had a period of a couple of months below par where he didn’t make the bench because he wasn’t training well enough. But having had a couple of words with him he’s trained really well. That’s what you’ve got to do as a professional.”
What was the issue with him?
“I can’t think of the word. I just don’t think he was doing enough. He was okay but I knew he could do more. That’s what you’ve got to do to stay in the team. You’ve got to be like that at this level.
The different types of players we’ve got. Junior doesn’t get a lot of credit, but he defends well I can trust Junior. He tends to go unnoticed.”
