NEIL WARNOCK:

Joe Ralls is out injured for the rest of the season.

Brighton in the better position?

“I just think with us, no one’s expected us. It’s hard at the bottom. Two clubs have clawed their way out. It’s so difficult because you know you’re doing your best in a league that’s the best by a mile. Chris has done a brilliant job wherever he’s been the last few years and he wants to do well for his club and that’s the same with me.”

“We have to win games and they don#’t/ We have to try and win games of football which is easier said than done.”

Parker ‘surprised at Cardiff still being alive’ - do you agree?

“I think you’ve got to be. In the situation we’ve been in from day 1 we knew it was going to be difficult, but we’ve overcome all the doom and gloom and all the predictions and we’ve enjoyed it. We’ve still got our biggest challenge ahead and it’s an opportunity for the lads to put their names into the history books.”

Is the message the same as before Brighton?

“I know it sounds silly because you think there’s more pressure, but I think after the Chelsea game the shackles have come off us. I can’t ask any more from the players.”

And Arter?

“You just don’t know with Harry from one day to the next.
“His brother-in-law’s Scott Parker. So we’re banning him from watching us train this week, just in case he’s after going to Fulham next year!”

'I tried to sign Parker'

Warnock’s revealed that he tried to sign Scott Parker as a player when he was at the helm at QPR.

“I think Scott’s gone in with new ideas and the shackles are off [for Fulham]. It’s a mix of things. He’s a good lad Scotty I tried to sign him at QPR on deadline day but it fell through.”

Do you have an advantage in playing first?

“It depends if you get the result. If you don’t the advantage goes the other way.”

On Fulham and Parker

“Scott’s done well. You look at the squad they’ve got and their expectations are probably not all that far away from Wolves, so it’s been a poor season result-wise.”

“We know how difficult it’s going to be but it’s a nice club. I love the stadium and the fans, a lot of my friends are Fulham fans.”

The players mentioned they were disappointed by Liverpool defeat - shows right attitude?

“I think we’ve been like that the last 6 or 8 weeks really. I think we’ve realised we’re Premier League players now. I think the lads were disappointed because the Liverpool goals were avoidable and throughout the season we’ve lost points from goals that were avoidable.”

“You lose concentration and you get punished at this level.
With the big clubs we’d never given them a game but Chelsea and Liverpool we had a go when we could. I enjoyed watching my lads having a go against one of the best teams in the world.”

Mendez-Laing's return to form

“Hopefully, the penny’s dropped with him. He had a period of a couple of months below par where he didn’t make the bench because he wasn’t training well enough. But having had a couple of words with him he’s trained really well. That’s what you’ve got to do as a professional.”

What was the issue with him?

“I can’t think of the word. I just don’t think he was doing enough. He was okay but I knew he could do more. That’s what you’ve got to do to stay in the team. You’ve got to be like that at this level.
The different types of players we’ve got. Junior doesn’t get a lot of credit, but he defends well I can trust Junior. He tends to go unnoticed.”

Is it going to be a case of simply working harder than Fulham?

“That’s the minimum requirement. Whether it’s Sunday league or the Premier League. I think that’s one of the success stories of the season in Man City. They’ve got world class players that work hard. To get that is great for a manager.”

Pep's told players to avoid TV and media, will you do the same?

“No not really. I don’t feel under pressure. I feel that the shackles are off. I want the players to feel like that. In general the players are looking forward to it. Three games to go and the players have got a chance.”

Three games remain with the league title, top four places, Europa League spots and relegation between Cardiff City and Brighton still to play for.

Cardiff currently sit 18th, three points behind Brighton and with an inferior goal difference.

Does your spirit give you an edge?

“I think it’s been second to none. We’re not as gifted as a lot of teams but the spirit has always been there. I thought the last two months we’ve not just had spirit, we’ve also played well. We’ve tried to have a go and entertain.”

Would survival make up for Sheffield United relegation?

“No not really. You look back at incidents in a season and I’ll look back on it this time around too. All you’ve got to do is do you best. I thought we had more of a chance at Sheff United. This time it’s just a matter of doing the best we can. I just think what a great situation it would be for the fans if we could manage it.”

On the fan rivalry with Fulham

“I’ve got some good mates that are Fulham fans and they were the best footballing side in the Championship, I think some situations last year we were written off a couple of times. To come back again and again was a fabulous achievement. There’s going to be banter between all clubs vying for success.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

The test of Mitrovic

Just how much of a threat will the Serbian striker be at the weekend?

“That penalty at Bournemouth was only his third goal in 2019, but Warnock still thinks he’ll be a handful on Saturday.

Whenever you play against any of these players it’s going to be difficult. Mitrovic has done well the last few years. He was instrumental in Fulham coming back. I think it’s a good test for Manga and Morrison. That’s what you’re here for to get tested against the best.“

Re: BREAKING NEIL WARNOCK:

NEIL WARNOCK:

Would this be your best achievement?

“Oh crikey yeah. I think everybody knows the pundits didn’t give us any chance whatsoever of staying up and quite rightly so when you look at the different circumstances between ourselves and the other clubs. But we’ve never ever thrown the towel in.
“Even with heavy defeats we’ve had, we’ve always come back and tried to get back. We appreciate what our fans have been like.”

“Our fans have been behind us all season and if anything have got louder and louder. Once they see you’re trying hard they can forgive you other things, fans, and I think they know we’ve put every ounce in. I know I couldn’t have done any more myself.”

“It’s probably the hardest season I’ve had and it would be my biggest achievement by an absolute mile. But whatever happens this season, it would probably be my biggest achievement anyhow, and I think the players are the same. You can always point to mistakes but all I ask is that they do their best and they’ve kept doing that week in, week out.”

On Fulham's spending

“I think sometimes you have money and you can’t spend it well you’re better off not having it.. We were never in a situation like Fulham were.”

“ They get their targets in a different way to how we do. They look at the stats. I think the manager that got them promotion is a good manager. A manager will usually take it when they’re told they can have this that and the other.
Fulham have to come back next year in a difficult league. If I had a pick of all the teams I thought would bounce back I would’ve picked Stoke city. It shows you that it’s not easy.”

What's the latest on Joe Ralls?

“Joe will be out for the rest of the season. There’s no point in me telling you anything different.
“He’ll hopefully be ready for pre-season. I don’t really know the categories of injuries, but it’s a tear in his hamstring and he’ll be about eight weeks.”

Sounds like the FA have delayed the hearing to see first which Division Neil Warnock will be in? :?

Not as daft as it first appears and ties in with something that was said to me recently, i.e. that the FA have 'some sympathy' with Neil Warnock over the blatant error that might yet cost them a Premier League spot, but cannot condone publicly what was said about their own officials being "the worst in the world"

Either way, I hope they show understanding of his frustration and the clarity of the decision being so wrong it beggared belief :thumbright:

Cardiff City star jokingly 'banned from training ground' by Neil Warnock

Friday 26th April 2019

Neil Warnock has joked that Harry Arter has been 'banned' from training with Cardiff City this week - because he's the brother-in-law of Fulham boss Scott Parker.

Arter has been sidelined ever since the controversial defeat at Burnley earlier this month, picking up a calf problem while leaving the field during a substitution at Turf Moor.

Warnock is unsure whether the Irish international will be fit for Saturday's trip to Craven Cottage, where they will face already-relegated Fulham.

"You just don't know with Harry from one day to the next," Warnock revealed ahead of the crunch showdown in West London.

However, Warnock is still keen to keep a close eye on the Bournemouth loanee, whose sister is married to the current Cottagers boss.

And Warnock has joked that measures have already been put in place to stop any possible leaks, suggesting that Arter has even been left out of training.

"His brother-in-law's Scott Parker. So we're banning him from watching us train this week, just in case he's after going to Fulham next year!"

Warnock might be able to see the lighter side of the situation, but Arter's absence could leave his side a little light of options in the centre of the park, with Joe Ralls set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after receiving very bad news from the medics.

The Englishman limped out of last weekend's defeat at home to Liverpool, with what looked like a suspected hamstring injury, and Warnock admits there are even fears over his fitness for the upcoming pre-season schedule.

"Joe will be out for the rest of the season. There's no point in me telling you anything different," he added.

"He'll hopefully be ready for pre-season. I don't really know the categories of injuries, but it's a tear in his hamstring and he'll be about eight weeks."

Warnock's side head to London three points adrift of 17th-placed Brighton, who take on Newcastle United in Saturday's evening kick-off, and he admits that his side will still have to upset the odds if they are to preserve their top flight status.

"In the situation we’ve been in from day one we knew it was going to be difficult, but we’ve overcome all the doom and gloom and all the predictions and we’ve enjoyed it.

"We’ve still got our biggest challenge ahead and it's an opportunity for the lads to put their names into the history books."
