:bluebird: :bluebird: ' NEIL WARNOCK TODAY UPDATES CARDIFF CITY FANS ' :bluebird: :bluebird:

Friday 19th April 2019

NEIL WARNOCK:

“When I arrived at the club and you’d told me we were selling tickets on the black market for £1,000, you’d probably be locked up in a straight jacket.

On Sean Morrison...

“I think Sean will admit he didn’t have the best of starts to the season. He looks a bit awkward at times, but I think he showed his maturity in the last few games.

NEIL WARNOCK:

“It will be interesting to see how we start the game on Sunday.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

'Niasse gets a bit of criticism from supporters and everything but they don’t realise the job he does'

NEIL WARNOCK:

After Brighton game :bluebird:

“I think the dressing room was elated. Not just at winning but the way we won.

“I thought we played very well on the night and we planned for that. But we were always aware that if we lost the game that would be it.

“I think to go there and put in a performance like that with the sort of pressure that was on us is a big credit to the lads. I thought they all did their jobs.

“I think the belief has always been there. Doubts come when things go against you like they have in the last few weeks. It was a good response from the lads - a very positive response.”

'On their day they will beat anyone'

On the Liverpool front three:

“We just have to do the best we can. On their day they will beat anyone.

Warnock on Cardiff's run-in

WARNOCK:

“Our games are always going to be difficult.

“Next week we’ll be talking about Scott trying to get the Fulham job, if he’s not already got it by then and then Palace are as good as any team away from home.

“It’s difficult and then there’s Old Trafford.”

FA charge hearing

Warnock faces an FA hearing after denying three breaches for his post-Chelsea officials rant.

On when that hearing may be, the veteran manager said:

“We’re into May at the moment, so I haven’t got a date yet.”

'On their day they will beat anyone'

On the Liverpool front three:

“We just have to do the best we can. On their day they will beat anyone.

“It’s not really down to them, we just want to put in a good performance.

“I hate to concede five like we have done. I don’t like my teams losing concentration like that.

“But when you look at the quality some of these teams have, they could’ve scored more on the day. You just don’t know. You hope you can get a good performance and you don’t get a battering.

“I was at a fans’ forum last night and they’re so looking forward to it.

“Someone told me there were more Liverpool fans in Cardiff than Cardiff fans so there could be a few red scarves about.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

Last Cardiff win over Liverpool was in 1959

The last time Cardiff beat Liverpool was back in 1959, in what was Bill Shankly’s first game in charge.

Warnock: “Was it really? Wow. What a man. My favourite manager of all time.

“What do you say? Last time I beat Liverpool was at Crystal Palace a few years ago. It depends on which on you look at.”

'We realise the challenge but it’s an amazing game'

Is anything Cardiff get a bonus against Liverpool?

Warnock: “Absolutely. We’ve not got anywhere near a point yet off the top six.

“The last three home games we’ve played we’ve conceded five goals - Man United, Tottenham, Man City.

“You can plan all day long but if you concede early doors, you’ve no chance against these teams. They will just pick you off. That’s what you get with quality players.

“I made the comment last week that when you realise our wage bill is £11million less than what they spent on agents’ fees. I think it puts it in perspective really on what we’re up against.

“We realise the challenge but it’s an amazing game. Everyone’s talking about it. The atmosphere will be fabulous.

“When I arrived at the club and you’d told me we were selling tickets on the black market for £1,000, you’d probably be locked up in a straight jacket.

“So that’s where we are at the minute and we’re enjoying it. I think you’ve got to try and enjoy what you’re doing when the pressure’s on you.”

'Liverpool and Man City best by a mile'

How does this Liverpool side compare to others?

“It’s difficult to compare the great sides because football’s changed so much. I remember when I was young, your Ron Yeats and that and people like Callaghan. I loved Callaghan. And Rush and Dalglish and all them.

“It was such a different game back when I was growing up. They were the best back then by a mile. And I think these are, along with Man City, the best by a mile at the moment.

“They’re one of the best in the world. Jurgen’s done a fabulous job.

“It’s all about balance. There were one or two weaknesses and he’s filled those weaknesses, with top players. He’s got young lads that are going to play for England and Scotland for the next 10 years. It’s a great mix they’ve got.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

'Difficult to find a weakness'

Warnock on Klopp and Liverpool:

“I just think it’s alright having money at the top end. I saw 3-400 million these teams have spent at the top of the league, but you still have to spend it properly.

“You’ll have to look a long way to find better signings than the goalkeeper and the centre-half. You all know my story about van Dijk. You pay a lot of money for these players but they’re worth every penny.

“You see the world class strikers they’ve got and they’ve not really got a weakness in any department. It’s difficult to find a weakness.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

Cardiff v Liverpool 'probably could’ve sold out twice more'

Is the bearing on the title race part of the background of this game?

“We could’ve said that when we played Man City but we couldn’t get the ball.

“We’ve just got to try and give a good account of ourselves for the fans that are going because it’s a sell-out and it probably could’ve sold out twice more as well.

“It’s going to be a great day but I don’t want it to be a lovely occasion but we still get battered. A good performance will stand us in good stead for the next few games.”

'On our own patch will a full house we can be a force to be reckoned with'

Anything to learn from Cardiff’s record against the top six?

Warnock: “I mean we can work all week but if we freeze and make a mistake early on we may as well go home. These teams don’t give you many chances.

“I don’t see how they can make changes. The games are so important now.

“I think they’ll look to win the Champions League but the fans will love to win the Premier League.

“They haven’t mentioned the Cardiff game much, but I think that on our own patch will a full house we can be a force to be reckoned with, but when you look at the other side of the coin we can be an easy target.

“It will be interesting to see how we start the game on Sunday.”

'I like it when we surprise people'

On the relegation odds...

“I think they don’t normally give money away, the bookies.

“We’ve still got a massive job to do. You’d still want to be in Brighton’s shoes.

“You just got to hope that Nuno and Wolves aren’t on the beach.

“Newcastle, you want them to turn up. There are a lot of factors to come into it.

“We’re just glad that with four games to go we’re still surprising people. I like it when we surprise people.”

'Until authorities decide to take a big step, I can’t see much changing' - Warnock on PL racism campaign

The Premier League launched its No Room for Racism campaign last month.

Warnock says: “We’ve seen it coming to the fore and the lads have been very telling about the Premier League players and what they’ve done. It needs an authority stepping in now. It can’t be left to the players.

“Until the authorities decide to take a big step, I can’t see much changing if I’m honest.”

Aware of the issue in your own dressing room?

“No. Not at all. I’ve never seen anything. There’s nothing in the dressing room that’s ever been mentioned to me.

“No disrespect to Cardiff, we’re not high profile and these people tend to pick on the high profile players. They’re sad people really.

“I’m not on social media, but until Twitter, Google or whatever start patrolling their own field, they’ve got to do something about it. The idiots must love it. They’ve got anonymity. There’s no recourse on the them.

“It’s scandalous in today’s society that you can say whatever you want. People like these are cowards. If they saw these people face to face, they’d crawl into a corner.”

Camarasa's future?

Cardiff City’s Victor Camarasa has rejected a permanent move to South Wales, according to reports in his homeland.

Diario de Sevilla , a publication in Spain, state that Camarasa is surplus to requirements at parent club Real Betis and will be moved on this summer.

They also report that the Spaniard rejected the chance to sign for the Bluebirds in January, due to the club’s precarious position at the bottom end of the top-flight table.

He does, however, want to stay in the Premier League - which will put Tottenham, Leicester and West Ham on red alert.

Latest on Harry After

On Arter being involved, Neil Warnock said:

“I wouldn’t have thought so. He’s touch and go for Fulham. That’s what the physio told me.

“Gunnars had a spasm in his back, but I think that’s just old age.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

'Niasse gets a bit of criticism from supporters and everything but they don’t realise the job he does'

Are Cardiff rising to the occasion after Brighton?

“I think it’s good to look back on things like that, but I think we’ve been playing well in general really.

“When you go back to the West Ham game, and then we had three weeks to prepare for Chelsea and I thought we were excellent against Chelsea.

“On another day, we could’ve had the points against Chelsea. I think we’ve matured into a Premier League team. We were naive at first but I think a lot of players realise now they can play in the Premier League.

“Niasse gets a bit of criticism from supporters and everything but they don’t realise the job he does.

“It’s such an unselfish job he does and he brings the best out of the midfield and the wide lads.

“It’s a good job I see what he does as he hasn’t scored a goal. He’s desperate to score a goal and Sunday would be a good time.”

'Icing on the cake' for Morrison

On Sean Morrison...

NEIL WARNOCK:

“I think Sean will admit he didn’t have the best of starts to the season. He looks a bit awkward at times, but I think he showed his maturity in the last few games.

“You know what I think about him. I supported him through all the flak last year.

“He answered in the right way last year at Hull City and shut everybody up. The other night was just the icing on the cake in how they’ve been playing.

“I think Bruno’s been the same. They’ve been fantastic together over the last few games.”
