Cardiff City transfer plans in motion

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock has revealed transfer plans are already in motion as the Bluebirds continue their relegation survival battle against Burnley this weekend.

Five points adrift at the bottom, Cardiff probably need to win four of their remaining six games to stay up - starting with Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.

But while the focus is on catching their relegation rivals, Warnock revealed identifying transfer targets for Premier League and Championship scenarios next season is under way.

Warnock and the Bluebirds Board haven't gone into detail, but the manager confirmed the summer transfer process had already started.

NEIL WARNOCK:

"At the moment, we’re trying to plan ahead for the pre-season, as normal," he said ahead of the Burnley clash.

"We’re looking at targets in both eventualities, which is not easy, really.

"I think the club’s in the same situation, really.

"I don’t think we can do anything until we know exactly what the situation is, and then I'm sure Mehmet [Dalman] will be talking to me. I speak to them on a regular basis, but we haven’t really gone into details about next season."

Confirming he wants to stay as manager, Warnock said he doesn't "see anyone better to take over at this moment in time", and is hopeful of steadying the ship next season.

Warnock even plans to help Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan find his successor.

"I will be in my final year at Christmas time, then I can help the club pick another manager," he said.

"That’s what I would like to do, because the fans have been so good for me, I wouldn’t like to leave them in the lurch."

"From day one, I came in at a time where they really needed me, if I’m honest, and it was nice to bring everybody back together.

"I’m talking about Vincent and the fans and everybody else.

"To see everybody singing from the same song sheet and have the pride back in the club and then listen to the away followings now, it’s been an amazing two years to turn that round.

"In my wildest dreams, I didn’t think we’d do it as quickly as we have and have this experience. The club’s in such a better state now to move forward.

"If it makes the right decisions now in the next 12-18 months, there’s no reason why Cardiff can’t be another Burnley, Brighton, type of club.

"Because we’ve got the backing, 33,000 nearly every game now, it’s just amazing."

Cardiff supporters pay their hard-earned cash to follow their team and Warnock said: "A lot of our fans are on the borderline, and it’s almost like an outlet for them to come to the game now. They know the lads are giving everything, they know I’m giving everything, so they get behind us.

"That’s why I’d find it very difficult, unless I was asked to, to leave."

And it's not just the manager who is happy about committing his future to Cardiff.

“Mrs Warnock, it is her idea as much as mine, she has really, really enjoyed the people around here," said the manager of his wife Sharon.

“I have never seen Sharon enjoy a club like this and obviously the women behind the men have the ups and downs you don’t read about.

“To cope with what she’s had to put up with over the last couple of years, it’s tremendous having someone like that around really.

“I’ve never heard fans chanting the name of a manager’s wife before, I think it is a unique situation. She does love the fans and they have taken to her. So I will keep ticking on."

Whatever division we are in, it is time to get in some fresh players.

Thanks but tara to Peltier, Zahore, Hoilett, Richards, Harris, Connelly, Ward, Ralls, Damour and those out on loan.

Really would like to see a completely new central midfield and 2 new centre forwards next season.

Is it too much to ask for a midfield which can drive on with pace and pass forwards?

And a pair of centre forwards who know can get 15-20 goals each?

Cannot see much happening with the defence unless some want to move on but City desperately need a new right back.

Hope Ethridge stays.

Looks like we only will witness a few more games from Victor :(

Cash up front obviously, the Sala, Nantes fee still in dispute will make buying players difficult.

No it wont why should it? If club wants to sell a player they are not going to say give us your money 1st? Football is full of financial matters and hasn't stopped other teams buying players in normal way of so much upfront and remainder over x amount of years! Ameliano is and was an extreme situation and will not effect cubs ability to buy players the normal way..

Whatever division we're in next season, the recruitment needs to be spot on as I think it will be a massive overhaul in the summer. We'll probably need 7-8 new players which will include a RB, CB, CDM, CM,CM, Winger, and a striker or maybe 2. We cant afford any more signings like Leandro Bacuna, Greg Cunningham, Lee Tomlin and Gary Madine. I am very worried about the fact that We'll lose Gunnarsson, Arter and Camarasa next season and will need a whole new midfield.

Our scouts don't seem to go to far afield? Should snap up tolgay arslan,if he's still available, with a move possible to besiktas for niasse, who knows, but arslan is a steal at 5m,just my opinion of course. :old: :bluebird:

I’ve never seen Arslan play but if he’s that good, a real steal, only 5mill and been available for so long how come he’s not been snapped up?
Plenty of clubs would be interested if that were the case.
Perhaps he’s not all that!

I also think if we get relegated and play in the championship next season, as seems likely, Bacuna and Cunningham will play a big part.
