' I am hearing Cardiff City Want to Do a Deal '

Emiliano Sala / Nantes FC / Cardiff City £15mill transfer

I am hearing Cardiff City have now asked Nantes on a couple of times in the last week to now discuss the fee of £15mill (over 3 years) privately and to come to some kind of new deal and stop the case going any further with FIFA and to try and stop any more legal litigation.

On their first request Nantes said they wanted everything done through FIFA, I am hearing City have gone back again and there might be a good chance and discussions taking place :bluebird:

I really hope all this gets sorted ASAP, for the sake of Emiliano Sala / Family and the good name of our club :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluescarf:

not going to be easy as a third club are involved..

anything Nantes agree to will have to go through Bordeaux or they will be starting up law suits..

hope I am wrong but while everyone else sees a scenario where we don't pay AND even get compo from Nantes .

I have a feeling this will not only make us look terrible { done already } but will cost us more than the 15mill

Agreed that could be the stumbling block.

Not sure Bordeaux have a say as they only get sell on fee so its up to nante/city how much is paid for ameliano, it could be free transfer Bordeaux cant tell them hes got to cost us 15m ect

No doubt I will be shot down for this but I will say it anyway.

I fail to see why Cardiff should think there is any chance of them wriggling out of a deal that they agreed to. Looking for loopholes and get outs by claiming Sala wasn't registered with the PL stinks of desperation.

Sala signed for Cardiff, he was flying back to start training with them and was hailed as your record signing. Cardiff were sloppy in failing to ensure the appropriate insurance policy was in place and possibly sloppy for not monitoring the method of transport that Sala chose to use.

No amount of money will compensate the Sala family for the loss of (by the looks of it) a very likable young man. Looking for technicalities in order to try to renage from an agreement does not sit comfortably with me. I can just imagine the uproar on here if Willie McKay tried to pull off a similar stunt.

I don't agree and speaking of sala and his family is wrong its nothing to do with them whatever money they will receive is nothing to do with the 15 million issue this is for Nantes to spend on another player , these talks or dispute at the end of the day are for the people who run the club have their reasons for a dispute.

We are supporters now owners if you want to have more say spend your money otherwise we have to accepts for business reasons there is a dispute and 15 million is a lot of money we need to see if the insurance will be paid out as there is so much wrong with the flight and the process if City have to pay it fine but its up to them

this whole affair will cost us heavily. we should of paid the first instalment and if anything was found in our favour we could reclaim. the fact we refused the first payment will mean any transfers in our future now, instead of 1/4 upfront, clubs will now demand 1/2 upfront, or even more.

If you pay the first installment you are accepting the liability for the whole amount. You can hardly claim he's not our player when you've just paid 5m.

The fact we are trying to do a deal with Nantes makes me think our case isn't that solid.

Don't understand why this is not an issue for the loss adjustors. Ours, Nantes, Agent and the operator.

if you read the post fully you see was making point that Bordeaux couldn't dictate the fee paid between the clubs whether its 15m or free transfer as he was not their player but hey ho everyone else wanted slice of transfer ..... :sad7:

A bit like Aston Villa not paying for Gareth Barry, even after a tribunal told your club to pay up you didn't.

That whole matter didn't sit comfortably with me.

Of course the club want to do a deal, they don’t want to pay what was agreed!

I think this has to be the most shameful episode in the clubs history. It’s a shame only dogfound and a very small amount of others have been able to stand up for what is right. Reading on here sometimes reminds me of the BBC cover up of the 80’s, turning a blind eye to sheer vile and inexcusable actions, all in the name of misplaced loyalty.

Cardiff agreed to pay £15m for Sala and their own incompetence with paperwork and player liaison created a couple of tiny loopholes that they did their best to unscrupulously squeeze through. Why on earth should Nantes do a deal and give away their star player for a fraction of what they sold him for?

This will already no doubt have cost the club a pretty penny in legal council, unspeakable damage to reputation and if Tan thinks players, their agents and clubs are going to want to deal with them then he has another thing coming. If you receive two identical offers for a player.. which one are you likely to accept? The club that has an exemplary record of honouring agreements? Or the club that hangs agents out to dry, disowns players for a chance of financial gain, tries to get out of payment - then try and pay a smaller amount when that avenue closes off etc etc

Those who are still sticking by the club with regards to this really need to take a long, hard look in the mirror.

the fee had been agreed and made public and much made of the { complication } at the time of Nantes owing half of any profit made to his previous club.
come on mate.. if we had that sort of sell on clause under the same circumstances you would expect our club to be covering bases in getting our share...
if we end up paying in full , just under half goes to Bordeaux.
if some how Nantes are found to be in wrong they not only lose the transfer fee from us. but I would imagine they then have a law suit from Bordeaux ..
and if a deal is done...eg we pay 50% , either pretty much all that money goes to Bordeaux unless they are happy with the reduced sum.. or Bordeaux take legal action against Nantes..
