Man City vs Brighton crowd

Sat Apr 06, 2019 10:17 pm

71,000.

Poor isn't it?

I was quite shocked, we had 83,000 against Barnsley.

35,000 each then 13,000 on top.

I know Man City have been there loads but I can't remember Brighton playing at Wembley for a long time and Man City sold 30,000 which isn't that bad so how come the low crowd, Brighton would have took 35/40,000 surely?

Thought the same when they announced the figures, I guess what they say about Man City's poor support is true.

To be fair though mate aparantly that was man city's 4th trip this season, charity shield, spurs in league, league Cup and this and they still sold 30,000 with a final to come, I just thought Brighton would have sold their 35,000 and more then neutrals.

It's mental to think Cardiff/Barnsley got 12,000 more isn't it?

tbf having been there 6 weeks ago for a final with the prospect of going there again for another final plus 1 possibly 2 champions league home games to fork out for in the coming weeks i 100% wouldnt have gone today if that were ourselves. its not just a few quid its literally hundreds of pounds..
our semi was a real novelty first time at wembley since 1927 and will add just a few years later the Liverpool league cup final tickets were easier to come by..

Wembley in the last few years has been used far to much, its not special at all anymore and also way way to expensive.

We hadn't been to Wembley for over 80 years. Man City will possibly be there 5 times in a year.

Man City have been there 4 times already this season and realistically were expecting to go there a 5th to the FA cup final. Yesterday was also the first of 3 games they're playing in London in the space of 8 days, one of which being a Champions League game. I can't imagine the cheapest tickets being less than £40 for the game yesterday so I'm not surprised they only took 30,000.

I know Man City have been loads chaps(I said it in the opening post and never critisized them) and totally agree with the points raised but they still sold 31,000 tickets, for some reason (I can't remember Brighton playing at Wembley?) I thought Brighton would have taken 35-40,000+ and then whatever extra tickets got shifted on top.

Having said all all that, 71,000 is still a big crowd and looking at past other semis isn't far off the mark.

I suppose it's because Wembley is so big it can give a false impression (to me anyway) as I just thought 24,000 empty seats was a lot and perhaps it clouded my judgement last night on top of a few Heineken lol.

Agree with what Annis said aswell, used far to much and don't agree with Semis bring there although I didn't say that back in 2008, it's a double edged sword.

Spot on Annis,I know the FA won’t but both Semi finals should be played at The Principality Stadium.Neutral ground,70k capacity, tried and tested, still a bit special for the occasion and keeps the magic of the final at Wembley.
But I suppose money talks :banghead:

yep, if that had ended up being our 1 and only time there but boy did the novelty wear off quickly..
as chuffed as I was to at last get to go there ,with hindsight it really should be for finals.

that's not bad but going on experience those are the first tickets to be sold.

the cheapest tickets City returned were 45 pound tickets , and hardly sold any of their 120 pound tickets...
