If player had fallen ovet red card undoubtedly but both face to face it was 50/50 bit couldn't complain if red card? Stupid thing to do with Var in operation

They were face to face because walker put his face in. Red card no question the refs bottled it.

as ref did not revue it on screen the decision was made by Var? ref obviously wasnt sure so var took over and guided ref as is their way.... like I've said before var will be making decisions not the ref so do we need a ref anymore other than to ko game and end the halfs? :laughing6:

surely you mean good decision by the ref ?

But VAR reviewed it and declared it a ‘no red card’ which came up on the screen as I recall so they could have sent him off.

But tonight var as shown whats going to happen next season with handball ! Spurs player slid in to tackle ball hit hand ref clearly saw it did nothing but as required var looked at it and they gave pen not ref.... .. looking at it and what commentators said new handball rule will mean lots of penalties like tonight which was not deliberate :o

So why didn't Var give it After all they had super slow motion to look at? Guess matter of opinion ! Take tonight var gave handball but all 4 experts say not but var says yes.... and theres me thinking it was supposed to cut out mistakes looks like same as refs to me ! :o

VAR gave it because by the letter of the laws it was a penalty offence. The studio referee explained this.
The experts said it wasn’t a penalty purely on common sense and their experience.
I agree with Rio but the law is the law and in my opinion needs to be changed and clarified.
