Cardiff fans slate Everton loanee Oumar Niasse

HITC

Thursday 4th April 2019

By John Verrall

Everton boss Marco Silva decided to loan out Oumar Niasse to Cardiff City in the January transfer window.

Oumar Niasse of Everton during the Carabao Cup second round match between Everton and Rotherham United at Goodison Park on August 29, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Cardiff fans appear to have had enough of Everton loanee Oumar Niasse now, after his display against Manchester City.

Cardiff signed Niasse on loan from Everton in the January transfer window, and he has been given plenty of chances by Neil Warnock.

However, the front man still only has one goal since his move away from Goodison Park and his performance against City was not encouraging.

Although Niasse only had limited service last night, when he was presented with chances he was highly wasteful.

Niasse wasted Cardiff’s best chance when on the break away, when he failed to get a shot off despite being one on one with Ederson.

And Cardiff fans are now calling for the rapid forward to lose his place in their side.

@cpdcatenaccio
The less said about Niasse the better. Ken vs Burnley? I’m not too sure.

Truth is the missed Niasse opportunity wouldn't have changed the outcome, however doesn't bode well for future fixtures which will be "must win". A confidence player short on confidence is never a happy ending *end of Scott Johnson-esque tweet*

@AdamJackson
Sorry but Niasse is bloody rubbish.

Think we should be looking to convert Niasse into a midfielder, he can press, win and pass the ball, He’s also lightening quick, but he doesn’t have the confidence. Swagger and cool head in front of goal a striker needs

I’ve had a guts full of Niasse now. He looks nothing like scoring and Zohore would have put away the chance he blew tonight. It’s a myth that he always works hard too. It’s time to live or die by Zohore, or Reid, because Niasse won’t keep Cardiff up. It’s time to hook him

I have seen enough of Niasse now to see that I don’t rate him. 1 on 1 with the keeper and didn’t even look up to see where he was. By the time he did Ederson took it from his feet. Zohore or Reid would have put that away in my opinion.

@Rhyse
Can’t decide if Niasse’s good holding up of the ball is enough to justify him starting. Haven’t seen many players worse in front of goal

As been said he works tirelessly for team but he does not have goal scorers ability as last night showed with his chance he never looked like scoring from moment he got ball! Ken in same situations niasse as been in would done lot better that's for sure.

Much better than our other strikers as he can hold the ball up well make intelligent runs at the defender and thus brings others into the game. No coincidence we have been playing better since he came in. Yes that miss was terrible but still against Burnley, Brighton etc. It’s more worth having him their as he will create chances for others and allow to me dominate in terms of imposing ourself on the game.

I think its all a bit harsh. He's definitely brought more energy to the front line although his finishing is pretty poor.

Easy decision for me, he starts.

The amount of ground he covers running himself into the ground for the team means he will probably lack the composure of other strikers who just wait for the ball to reach them. I think he has been brilliant for us, disappointed he hasn't scored but what he has brought to the team has been great.

problem is the way we set up our strikers are never going to score for fun, No one likes Zohore, no one likes Ward, Patterson isn't a striker, Niasse cant score....loop back to Zohore.

Spot on, we are just playing well with a team that's starting to pick itself, great performances especially against West Ham and Chelsea where we would have won if it was not for the useless linesman and referee, and people want to make changes.

No need to tinker when a team is playing well, especially at the most important game of the season, followed by the next most important !!!

The way some people talk you would think Zohore is the hardest working goal machine in the league !!!

If I was manager (well on FIFA 19 anyway).....

I would start with Ken and bring Niasse on after 65 mins. Ken is looking like he can hit the back of the net - whereas Niasse tends to be good at breaking things up and counter attacking - not so good at putting the ball in the net though :(

its HITC who seem to either have 8 thousand reporters writing this garbage { never the same one twice } or just pop into the local junior schools and ask the kids to write stuff

For the same reasons Id do the same but the complete opposite, keep the game tight then bring on Ken when they have tired legs.

I did think Zohore should have come on earlier V Chelsea.

I mean...I made a respectful post saying the same thing an hour before the team was announced last night. I understand Warnock though. Why upset the apple cart for the sake of a nothing game against Man City. I'm sure he would have played Ken last night had the opponent been different.

Apart from score and that will come he has been fantastic, works hard unlike ken runs the channels and buys our defence and midfield time instead of the ball coming straight back.
He as good a player as we could have hoped for considering our budget

Personally would rather see Reid tire them out then bring on niasse or Ken
Reid has more potential then Ken & niasse put together

As for the guy saying Ken would have put that opportunity away I don't think Ken has the pace to have gotten the opportunity I'm the first place.

Oumar for me with Reid behind him at 10.

Re: ' Cardiff fans slate Everton loanee Oumar Niasse '

We need goals, Niasse isn't going to bring that. Don't see what Niasse adds that Reid can't anyway, I'd argue Reid holds the ball up better than Niasse as well (as displayed at Palace).

Re: ' Cardiff fans slate Everton loanee Oumar Niasse '

Thu Apr 04, 2019 1:34 pm

He was the only player who tried to keep the ball last night, he held the ball up well but got zero support because we were sat so deep, he needs someone playing along side him.

Re: ' Cardiff fans slate Everton loanee Oumar Niasse '

Thu Apr 04, 2019 2:34 pm

He must be the new scapegoat still, it gives Morrison who has been immense a rest

I agree he should have done better yesterday and needs to work on his finishing, but if he had better touch and was better in front of goal, he wouldn't be here, he would still be at Everton or above.

Thankfully Warnock is very astute and can see the work he does and what he adds to the team, that's why he is the first choice and will start at Burnley!!!

When a team is playing really well and better than most of the season, why do people want to tinker?

The Cardiff City striker who is dividing opinion among Bluebirds fans after Man City blunder -

By Dominic Booth

Thursday 4th April 2019

Oumar Niasse is continuing an unwanted trend at Cardiff City that has drawn some rather unfair criticism in the wake of Wednesday night's defeat to Man City.

The evidence is plain: since signing on loan from Everton in January, Niasse has failed to score a goal — much like January 2018 signing Gary Madine, who never found the net in a Bluebirds shirt. Hence some have even called Niasse 'the new Madine' — not a label you want as a Cardiff forward.

But is that where the comparisons should end? Why has Niasse become the target of such fierce criticism and why do his backers and detractors disagree so vehemently?

This is the issue that's dividing Bluebirds fans right now, with Neil Warnock faced with a decision that could make or break the side's survival hopes.

The case against Niasse

Let's start with the criticism and where it's surfaced from.

Niasse has now played nine games for Cardiff and despite initially receiving praise for transforming the team at the top of the pitch, remains goalless.

The striker's performance against Man City has been the most recent focal point for flak, with Niasse fluffing a big chance to haul a goal back for the visitors late on.

He should have done much better no doubt: taking too long after being played in by Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and allowing Ederson to bravely smother at his feet. It should have been 2-1, setting up a grandstand finish at the Etihad.

Following Niasse misses against West Ham and Watford in recent weeks you can perhaps understand the new wave of frustration from Cardiff fans.

Niasse has never been prolific in the Premier League — not even in a more assured Everton team — and that's becoming a growing concern.

The case for Niasse

It says so much that it's only now Niasse finds himself the subject of some sharp-tongue critique. That reflects the desperation from Cardiff fans to see a prolific striker at the apex of Warnock's side for the remaining six games. Goals could make all the difference and keep the Bluebirds in the Premier League.

But to chastise a player for under-performing against the irresistible force of Man Cit y seems a little unfair. Niasse certainly played his part in the terrific team performance against Chelsea, and against West Ham three weeks before that.

There are still many Cardiff fans out there who remain firmly behind Niasse. His outstanding work rate and willingness to sacrifice himself for the team make him a likeable character. The effort can never be in doubt, nor the pace, or the selflessness.

Yes, his goal return isn't what it ought to be, but the arrival of Niasse saw Cardiff's attacking game transformed in February and March. Cardiff always knew he wouldn't be a 20-goal-per-season frontman.

It was a breath of fresh air to have a genuine striker who could both hold the ball up and make the darting runs in behind — no disrespect to the admirable job Callum Paterson had done filling in.

Niasse isn't a bad player and will certainly get himself in the right positions to score goals for Cardiff over the next few weeks.

The decision Warnock must make

Niasse's detractors want one thing: a Kenneth Zohore return.

And it's fair to say Warnock will have to choose between the two when selecting his team for the big Burnley showdown in eight days. He's pretty set on sticking with the 4-3-3 which has served him well for more than two years in south Wales.

Both contenders for the No.9 role have strengths: Zohore is perhaps more powerful and assured on the ball, Niasse offers more defensively and possesses more pace — although neither have scored goals by the bucket-load for a long time.

Some Cardiff fans are convinced Zohore can repeat his heroics from St Mary's a few weeks ago, when he re-announced himself with a dramatic late winner and screamed "I'm back!"

He's not scored since, though neither has Niasse.

One thing is for sure: Cardiff will need goals from their main striker in their final six matches this season and you can bet Niasse, forever the trier, will be digging deep in an effort to end his Bluebirds' goal drought.

haha just an article trying to get people to read it, don't believe everything you read online.

Niasse has been an important addition to our team who is quick and can score, even though he didn't in that situation he was in it was 50/50 that he would pick the perfect pass or goal.

Yep these types of articles are a joke. The so called ' journalist' just scoured twitter for negative comments on Niasse. If he wanted to, he could probably have found a number of positive comments about him. TBH any article where the basis is formed by comments found on twitter isn't worth reading (or even worth writing in the first place)

He has done really well for us, runs the lines, gets in behind the defenders, holds the ball very well..
A goal would boost his confidence, but I think his part in the team is vital.. maybe try and get Bobby Reid alongside him as well.

Burnley defenders would bully him, he wouldn't get a kick and couldn't hold the ball up at all, why change a team that is playing well???

Warnock has taken us back to basics and made us more solid and much harder to play against, Niasse is one of the important cogs in the team, the team picks itself except for injuries, Niasse is still playing well and fulfilling his role!!!
