Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and West Ham United join transfer race for Cardiff City's Victor Camarasa — reports

Cardiff City star Victor Camarasa is the subject of transfer interest from Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United among others, according to reports.

Spanish news outlet Marca claim the on-loan Real Betis midfielder — whose goal against Chelsea on Sunday took his season's tally to five — is on the radar of some big Premier League clubs.

They name Spurs, West Ham, Everton and Leicester City as interested clubs, with Betis reportedly ready to cash in on the 24-year-old. Mauricio Pochettino's men are the latest to be named in connection with Camarasa.

Cardiff hope to keep hold of Camarasa for a while longer if they remain in the Premier League, but are resigned to losing him should they be relegated.

The Bluebirds are currently five points from Premier League safety, with Camarasa having proved himself a key man this term.

He's scored vital goals against Leicester, West Ham and Arsenal as well as the outstanding instinctive strike that clinched a 1-0 lead for Cardiff against Chelsea at the weekend.

Camarasa, along with Harry Arter and Oumar Niasse, is on loan at Cardiff until the end of the season.

Report: Tottenham want to sign Victor Camarasa from Real Betis

Spurs are keen to sign the player who has a release clause of £15 million.

Tottenham are leading the race to land Real Betis midfielder Victor Camarasa, according to Spanish publication Marca.

The 24-year-old is currently on a season-long loan at Cardiff City where he scored a stunning goal against Chelsea on Sunday.

The report in Marca claims that Spurs aren’t the only Premier League club holding an interest.

West Ham United, Everton and Leicester are keen to land the player who has a €24 million release clause.

In 26 appearances for Neil Warnock’s side this season he has netted five goals and contributed three assists.

The Bluebirds would surely like to keep the Spaniard but with his release clause sitting at around £15 million, it would seem unlikely should they return to the second tier.

Tottenham will be keen to add to their midfield ranks as they scour the market for a Moussa Dembele replacement. The 31-year-old joined Guangzhou back in January.

Camarasa is versatile when it comes to playing in midfield roles and has scored some vital goals for Cardiff this season.

Spurs fans might not know a great deal about Camarasa but he would be a decent addition to the squad.

The midfielder will definitely benefit from having had a year sampling the English top-flight at Cardiff.

Camarasa might have to work hard to hold down a place in Mauricio Pochettino’s side, but he will surely fancy that challenge.

He has shown at the Cardiff City Stadium this season that he is more than capable of playing in the Premier League.

His strikes for Cardiff have come against Manchester United, Leicester, Chelsea and West Ham, indicating his willingness to impress in the bigger games.

Spurs fans will hope to land bigger names that Camarasa in the summer, but he would still be a decent addition for Pochettino.

I think a top 8 club will come in for him easily.

Agreed. If we stayed up I'd love him to sign for us but, to be fair, at 24 he's coming into his prime and in a team that has the ability to go forward he would fit very well and I couldn't blame him for signing for a bigger club.

I'm surprised it's Spurs mind, that would appear a bit of a stretch but I suppose Champions League teams can take a £15m gamble and not worry too much about it.

Not sure how €24m equates to £15m.

Why does it have to equate to 24 euros. They've made an offer. Only just realised my keyboard doesn't have a euro key.

I said at the start of the season, it won't matter where we are playing next season, even staying up will not be enough imho, his performances have in the main been very consistent, and I said the vultures would start circling if thst happened :sad7: but true.there wil be a scramble for his signature at the end of the season, one in which we will lose out sadly, the ball is in real betis's court really,as he will still have 3 yr left on his contract with them,I don't see 15m as the fee though, could well be 20m+ if a few teams want him, just my opinion of course ,be gutted to see him go. :old: :bluebird:

Report: Tottenham and Everton want Victor Camarasa

Available for £12.8mill

Tuesday 2nd April 2019

Real Betis's Cardiff City loanee Victor Camarasa is wanted by four Premier League clubs, Spurs, Everton, Leicester City and West Ham United.

Victor Camarasa of Cardiff City celebrates after scoring his sides first goal during the Premier League match between Leicester City and Cardiff City at The King Power Stadium on December...

Cardiff City loanee Victor Camarasa is a summer target for Premier League quartet Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Leicester City and West Ham United, according to Marca.

The Spaniard has been a big hit in South Wales since joining on loan from Real Betis last summer, adding class and creativity to Neil Warnock’s workmanlike side.

His glorious first-time volley in Sunday’s controversial 2-1 defeat against Chelsea was Camarasa’s fifth goal of the Premier League season, making him Cardiff’s top scorer.

And it seems that the former Spain U21 international could be offered the chance to stay in England’s top flight even if the Bluebirds are relegated.

Marca claims that Everton, West Ham and Leicester have been watching Camarasa closely. And they have now been joined in the race by Tottenham, who may be forced into the market for an attacking midfielder with the future of Christian Eriksen uncertain.

The report adds that Real Betis are willing to do business with the former Levante playmaker not in the plans of coach Quique Setien.

Camarasa has a release clause worth around £20 million but Betis are willing to sell for £12.8 million.

Camarasa is a quality player and it doesn’t matter whether a fight for PL survival is on, he will attract interest from all over.

To be honest, this is not a surprise, but survival is a must to keep him and relegation will see him and some others leave.

All of this is not the priority at the moment. Survival is and it is becoming more difficult with every passing fixture. Man C is one where a draw is a win.
