VINCE ALM:
(Cardiff City Supporters Club)
Monday 1st April 2019
Good Morning all my Cardiff City supporters
You all know me Mr Positive,
but this post is not being positive for positive sake I firmly believe we have a good chance of staying up with a lot more twists and turns to come. One thing I will say about this squad of players they keep proving people wrong, they keep fighting back, and they give their all to the cause. They may lack quality in some areas, however they have guts, courage, determination, and fight with a wily management team to support them.
Very disappointed with the officials yesterday think the linesman had his welding glasses on! 2nd goal came from a free kick taken from the wrong place which gave the player receiving the ball an unfair advantage (although we should have defended it better), Zahore being dragged down when in on goal, and the usual Morrison drag down in the box which we are used to!
Picking out the Sean Morrison penalty claims, I personally think teams are studying these clear blatant fouls on Morrison almost every week and thinking we can get away with preventing him jumping, holding pulling etc as they are never given by the Refs. Just a thought
Anyway, we need to move on and not feel sorry for ourselves dwelling on yesterday incidents. Probably one of the worst performances by officials I have seen in my time supporting Cardiff which includes the lower divisions.
I felt gutted for the players who put in a hell of a shift to try and get a result against a top 6 side and they will need picking up as I still believe we have a great chance despite us continually being written off.
I’m not sure what team Warnock is thinking of playing Wednesday night, but I would protect that midfield and not play them, the defence we have very few options left to choose from but this current back four are looking a decent unit. I would probably rest Niasse and start with Zahore or possibly ward depending on the midfield with Booby Reid in that number 10 role which he plays so well.
I keep saying to supporters we need to keep our nerve we are going to have consecutive games when we will not get a point or a goal, we are playing against some of the best players in the world. However, this team has now proved they can win home or away and compete with most sides. There have been plenty of positives from the last two games as Warnock as been able to play the midfield, I think he would have liked prior to Camarasa injury, and Arter loss of form.
Brighton have an FA Cup semi final tie this weekend, and then play Bournemouth at home in another south coast Derby which they have not fared to well in any of their Derbies this season. To put this in perspective if we can pick up 3 points against Burnley, and Brighton lose to Bournemouth potentially we could go above Brighton if we beat them on 16th April. Yes, ifs and buts, yes, we need to win two away games on the trot which is tough, yes, we need our best team fit and functioning.
This squad can achieve this, but they will need our help more than any other time this season. I urge you all not to throw in the towel just yet, keep that passionate support going, stick with the players, try not to get down during the ups and downs of the games so our nerves don’t transmit to the players on the pitch. One thing proved yesterday we will not get any help from anyone for this fight for survival we will have to achieve it with hard work.
After Man City game Wednesday the last 6 games look kinder to us, whereas Burnley, and Brighton fixtures look a lot tougher with Brighton finishing the season off against Man City and Burnley against Arsenal.
Burnley has sold out so if you can go to Brighton there are still tickets available even though we have taken a reduced allocation please come and support your team. The club has also subsidised coach travel to this fixture.
Siege mentality everyone;
We will not be defeated
We will prove them wrong
We will give it our all together
We will fight to the last breath for the glory and victory
We Cardiff City We are the Bluebirds, we are one.
