City boss Neil Warnock faces a fresh injury worry ahead of his side's clash with Chelsea on Sunday, after Callum Paterson limped off during Scotland's Euro 2020 qualifier with San Marino
The Bluebirds star landed awkwardly when going up for a header 32 minutes into proceedings at the San Marino Stadium, seemingly rolling his ankle
Cardiff head into Sunday's clash with Chelsea two points adrift of safety and losing Paterson will be considered a big blow to Warnock, who has already seen Sol Bamba ruled out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury.
Like Bamba, Paterson has played a key role in Cardiff's season, making 29 appearances in all competitions, netting four goals.

Here we go...
Neil Warnock is here, and starts with injury news...
"He’s (Paterson) having an operation on Monday and should be out until pre-season. A big blow.
The same day (Matt) Connolly was coming back training and he dislocated his ankle.
"(Paterson) is not because of the plastic pitch, but it’s one of those things.
"The same with Iceland I was told Aron (Gunnarsson) wasn’t going to play on the plastic pitch then he did… and he played 90 minutes against France. I bent over backwards for Iceland last summer to allow him to play in the World Cup. I know it’s a new manager but I’m disappointed.”

"Sol Bamba’s operation has been a success and the surgeon is delighted with that - Sol is recovering well and should be back in the summer.

More on injuries...
"Jazz Richards I’m told should be joining us next Monday and be back involved.
"We only counted 19 (fit players) the other day, but other clubs have injuries as well.
We just don’t have young lads under-23 who aren’t in their 25. Man City have Phil Foden!"

On the Chelsea game...
"It’s difficult, we know the situation.
"We watched the Everton game which they lost 2-0 and how they weren’t 4-0 up at half time, I don’t know.
We’ve got to play really well, defend like we never have and our goalie’s got to have a good day too."

Neil Warnock on whether or not his side can stay up...
"I think all the lads think we can.
"We’d have snapped your hand off to be here at this stage of the season.
"What we can’t do is what we did against Tottenham and Man United and concede a goal in the first two minutes.
There’s no point doing tactics and stuff if we’re going to do that."

On the racist abuse suffered by Callum Hudson-Odoi and other England stars during the international break...
"I thought the lads handled it very well if I’m honest.
"The people in charge have got to decide what they want to do. It’s got to be more severe than a fine.
"A manager has to take a team off the pitch, they’ve got to ban a team from the tournament.
"The deterrent has got to be far worse than it is. I would (take my team off), if the players told me."

Neil Warnock on PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor...
"I think Gordon dragged the union up when it was at a low.
"I’m sure he’ll regret one or two things that have happened in his tenure.
"I think in the modern era it’s quite right it has a shake-up. (The PFA) can’t half help for people."

Neil Warnock on Manchester United's decision to appoint Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on a full-time basis...
"He’s a lovely lad. His experience at Cardiff he’ll never forget, but he must think he’s won the World Cup going into that dressing room.
"He’s got to enjoy it while he can, it’s an amazing opportunity.
"Good luck to him, he’s a fabulous lad and I’d like to see him do well."

Neil Warnock on the Premier League relegation battle...
"We’re still putting the frighteners up one or two other teams.
"I think the glass is over-brimming at the moment, not half full or half empty. I think we should be eight or nine points clear of where we are, but we’ve still had eight clean sheets. I can’t fault anything about the club, the fans have been amazing and totally behind us.
"You forget where we were two years ago and you get carried away… but they keep fighting and coming back when everybody writes us off.
"That’s why I’m proud to be where I am. I think if we stayed up, we could progress by investment again in a better quality squad.
"I feel immensely proud when I see people like Lee Peltier, not looking out of place, playing as well as he ever does.
"And what an opportunity against someone like Hazard. Joe Bennett has been through a traumatic time. And when you’re behind the scenes and you see these lads, you can’t criticise any of them."

Neil Warnock on Cardiff City's upcoming matches against Chelsea and Man City...
"I think we can keep the score down at Man City, I think we can keep it to single figures.
"But I might play the reserves down there, it’ll be interesting to see what the journalists think of that."
Fri Mar 29, 2019 11:06 am
Neil Warnock is asked about Brexit...
"You’re not going to get me on that again!
"I was listening to Simon Jordan on talkSPORT this morning and I think he should be prime minister, the way he speaks about it!
"I’m sure David Cameron didn’t think of this did he…"

Neil Warnock on how Cardiff City hope to stop Eden Hazard...
"Hopefully he’d be on the bench.
"I’d give Callum (Hudson-Odoi) a game to be honest the way he’s gone with England.
"I don’t think anyone in the country can stop Hazard when he’s on his game.
"At our stage, why don’t we have a go? It’s alright saying that but you’re still not going to have much of the ball."
