“ Cardiff City / Nantes Fc and Emiliano Sala “

Tue Mar 26, 2019 7:53 pm

What is being said so far by both clubs:

Cardiff are saying that the contract agreed and signed by Emiliano Sala wasn't legally binding, despite announcing Sala as a Cardiff player and continually letting it being announced for over a month that Sala was a Cardiff player until the first payment was overdue to Nantes Fc.

City are set to argue to FIFA that contractual technicalities meant Sala was not cleared to play in the Premier League.

The main alleged hitch surrounded a signing on fee that didn't comply with Premier League rules, although they also claim that certain terms of their transfer agreement with Nantes have not yet been fulfilled.

The Bluebirds have argued that despite unveiling the striker as a Cardiff player, Sala would have had to have signed a revised deal in order to play in the Premier League.

Nantes Fc are saying they complied with all the rules and all their paper was completed accurately and Fifa registered everything before the horrific deaths of Sala and the pilot.

They have copies of all the paper work registered stating Emiliano Sala was a Cardiff City player.

Certainly one for the lawyers to sort but I don't think the speculation is helping.

Agree with that.

Makes for interesting debate but staying out of this one personslly as much as I can and will wait for everything to come out.

However my gut is telling me that Cardiff are just following the advice they are being given by lawyers and insurers and imo its harsh to criticisize them over what is now business at the end of the day.

Some people seem to want us to just pay the £15 million, I don't subscribe to that, it's certainly split opponion.

Cardiff announced the signing with the crucial inclusion that" the deal was subject to clearance from the authorities" unfortunately this never took place due to the tragic circumstances of Salas death and him being unable to re-sign a new contract

The consequences of this war of words between City, Nantes and the Sala family imo will be that clubs/agents will not want to deal with us as a club, very damaging to our reputation.
Difficult situation to be in if we retain our place in the Prem.

I think 2blue has said it all there and we will eventually get to know the truth, how long that will take who knows but there will be loads more speculation in my opinion and that's not healthy. It's things like sky reporting that Nantes have copies of all the paperwork the proves ES was a Cardiff City player, maybe they have I don't know, but I'll wait until FIFA make a decision on this before I believe anything SKY or Nantes say.

The indignation shown by some of our fans over our clubs stance frankly amazes me because I believe as you say they are acting on the advice of Lawyers, however I really feel if at the end of all this Cardiff have to pay they will. Messrs Tan , Dalman and Choo are honourable men and they have already said if Cardiff are contractually liable they will pay.

I do find myself asking if you could roll the clock back 16 years and Scam Hamman owned the club what would he do? Let's face it he did everything for our players and we could prove that by asking Gareth Whalley, maybe not :? and that was over £50k not £15m.

I've probably lit the blue touch paper with that so I'm going to step back now.

As far as agents and clubs not wanting to do business with us in future.
Unfortunately money talks and there will be plenty of clubs willing to deal with us.
We are not the bad guys in all this. We are just acting on legal advice , if we are liable to pay the board will pay.
There's not one club out there that would act any different to the way Cardiff City are.
