Cardiff City interested in Colombian winger

Cardiff City are one of several clubs interested in making a move for 22-year-old winger Luis Fernando Diaz, according to the player’s agent.

The youngster currently plies his trade for Colombian side Atletico Junior, and reportedly turned down a move to Argentine giants River Plate back in January.

Diaz has so far racked up two goals and two assists in eight games in all competitions this season, and his good form has seen become the subject of increased speculation in recent weeks.

Cardiff City are one of several clubs interested in making a move for 22-year-old winger Luis Fernando Diaz, according to the player's agent.

The youngster currently plies his trade for Colombian side Atletico Junior, and reportedly turned down a move to Argentine giants River Plate back in January.

Diaz has so far racked up two goals and two assists in eight games in all competitions this season, and his good form has seen become the subject of increased speculation in recent weeks.

According to AS , scouts from four teams in four different countries, came to watch Diaz in action against Brazilian side Palmeiras in the Copa Libertatores on Thursday, and the player's agent claims that one of those representatives was from Cardiff.


Asked about the Bluebirds links, Carlos Van Strahalen, representing Diaz, said: "There is an interest, like that of other clubs that came to watch the game yesterday."

Van Strahalen did not confirm the identities of the other teams believed to be showing an interest, but said they came from "Germany, Mexico, the United States and England".

Diaz was a key part of Junior's march to the Colombian title last season, netting 11 goals in 25 games, and also made his full international debut for Colombia back in September, replacing Juan Cuadrado in a 0-0 draw against the United States.

I don't see Murphy, Mendez or Hoilett going anywhere in the summer as we have enough of a rebuilding job with our Cm's in the summer. I think all 3 are top championship quality and I don't see anyone in the prem wanting them so I think they'll be here next season. I don't think Kadeem Harris will be here mind, think he'll leave for first team football to a championship club. The club do need to look at younger players imo as we do seem to have a bit of an ageing squad atm.

I simply don't believe any of these rumours as anything more than agents trying to get their name known. I doubt we have even considered signings for next season or thought about budgets etc

Its pretty much ever transfer rumour, either from a club trying to get rid of a player or an agent trying to get his player a move.

I think we should leave this talk until the end of the season and see where we stand!

We could get good money for Hoilett and NML from teams like Villa.
anywhere near 10m for either and i'd sell.
