:bluebird: :bluebird: " NEIL WARNOCK UPDATES CARDIFF CITY FANS " :bluebird: :bluebird:

Summary:

Warnock revealed he and Cardiff’s players had held a private meeting to discuss how to arrest their recent slump

He said Victor Camarasa should be involved against Wolves, along with Oumar Niasse

He addressed concerns over Sean Morrison’s form after the captain’s return coincided with back-to-back defeats

There was no comment on Willie McKay’s national media interview or the current state of the Emiliano Sala dispute

Warnock concentrated on the upcoming game at Molineux and how the Bluebirds can shock Wolves

NEIL WARNOCK:

'You’re not going to get less than 100% from Camarasa and he’s got so much ability - we’ve missed that. He’s a game-changer'

NEIL WARNOCK:

'They’re a good group of lads and they know they’ve been sloppy'

NEIL WARNOCK:

'I think Sean Morrison is an easy target, but I’ll be picking what I think is the best team'

NEIL WARNOCK:

'I think we’re the underdogs every game now'

On being back in the bottom three:

“We’ve been there before but you don’t want to be there.

“It’s not a shock, we’ve got to regroup and go again.

“We’re at our most dangerous when we’re written off.

“I think we’re the underdogs every game now, but I just want to get our lads firing on all cylinders.

“We’ll get [Oumar] Niasse back, we missed him.

“We’ve got to stay away from these elementary mistakes at the back - we didn’t concede these bad goals in the Championship.

“Not one particular player, it’s been shared around.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

'They know they’ve been sloppy'

Asked if the players are looking at themselves:

“I had a chat with them all yesterday and put my point of view yesterday about the rest of the season and after that they had a meeting of their own, no doubt commenting on what I said.

”They’re a good group of lads and they know they’ve been sloppy. It’s about trying to rectify that and give a good account of ourselves.

“With players at any level, if you do make mistakes you don’t tend to look in the mirror and you look around.

“All I’ve said to them is ‘have a look at your own performance’.

“There’s a few lads who know they’ve under-performed and they’ll be desperate to put it right.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

Injury news

“We’ve still got a couple of knocks, but Victor is back into the squad, expecting up to four players to return"

“There’s one or two doubts but nothing untoward. I’ll have a chat with Victor, he’s trained and he’ll be involved.”

"Victor has trained this week."

Warnock on Cardiff's last two games

On the poor scoreline in the last two games:

“I thought the penalty was instrumental in the first game, we never recovered from it.

“Then two silly bad defending goals. But you get punished if you make a mistake or lose concentration.”

'Wolves manager is Mrs Warnock's favourite'

On Wolves’ 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield this week:

“Anybody can beat anybody as that proved the other night.

“But you can’t take away what they’ve done.

“Nuno [Espírito Santo] has done a great job - he’s my missus’ favourite manager - he’s a lovely man as well.

“We always have good games against them and I hope we can put in a good performance, not like the last two.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

'Players have done things they shouldn't have in last few games'

Is there confidence in getting a win at Wolves?

“One or two players in the last couple of games have done things they shouldn’t.

“We’ve got to focus on what we do as a team and how we get results - and not worry about anyone else’s opinion.

“There are good atmospheres coming up, they’re difficult and noisy and they’ll be good games I think.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

“My wife says ‘why don’t you get the sack like that?’

Asked about Fulham sacking manager Claudio Ranieri after just 106 days in charge, Warnock says:

“My wife says ‘why don’t you get the sack like that?’

“I say it’s one of those things! The job is so difficult now and the owners decide if they want to change the manager.

“The lifespan of a manager now is relatively low in comparison.

“You used to say you want to build for the future but now you just build for next month.

“I look with envy at what teams have spent, but we’ve spent far less and just look at Fulham. When I call it a day I’ll miss some of the pressure.

“It’d be different for me if the fans were chanting ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’ - when that happens that’d be me done, so I’m grateful that we’ve got a fantastic support.

“Their love and devotion is the reason I’m still managing.

“I know they’ll be going up that motorway on Saturday expecting a performance.”

10 games to go

“I haven’t got many lads who don’t want to be in the trenches with me.

“I’ve got a couple of lads who don’t have enough belief in themselves.

“That can come back in the space of half an hour.

“They’ve got to realise they can play an important part and get their confidence back.”

'Capable of getting points when we're not supposed to'

On picking up pointsL

“I think we’re quite capable of getting points in the games we’re not supposed to - if we’re up to scratch.

“The next two games are very important, I realise that.”

'My expectations are bigger now because I think we should stay up'

Expecting others to drop in?

“I only look at ourselves.

“If we don’t get any points, we’ll go down anyhow.

“We’ll get relegated if we play like we did in the last two games.

“We’ve got a fighting chance and our fans would have snapped your hand off to be in that position on March 1.

“But my expectations are bigger now because I think we should stay up.”

EMILIANO SALA TRANSFER DISPUTE?

NEIL WARNOCK:

'You realise family is more important that football'

Asked how he has coped, Warnock said:

“You realise family is more important that football and you’ve got to focus on it, which isn’t easy with what’s going on.

“These tragic things happen and i think our club has been fantastic. The supporters are brilliant.”

'It would be a miracle'

Has the club maintained focus through the enormously difficult situation around Emiliano Sala’s death:

““It would be a miracle - I’ve said that all along - but especially what we’ve gone through in the last few months.

“It’s that type of season.

“I didn’t want to write another book but when I’ve retired I might have to sketch one.”

The Wolves insight

Express & Star Wolves reporter Joe Edwards provided the lowdown on the Molineux club ahead of the clash:

"Wolves fans are looking for a reaction from their defeat to Huddersfield, with Nuno keen to shake off the notion that his side do not perform at the same level against the lesser sides.

"This game against the Bluebirds is the last of what seemed a favourable mini-run of fixtures for Wolves. Plenty would have expected four points from the trips to Bournemouth and Huddersfield, if not all six, but Nuno's team managed just one.

"Anything but victory against Neil Warnock's team would be a disappointment and would cement the three games as a missed opportunity for Wolves to strengthen their push for European football.

"Fans are undoubtedly more excited for the upcoming FA Cup quarter-final tie against Manchester United, but they are very eager to get one over Cardiff and get back on track in the league.

"The big task for the players is not to get complacent. Having reached 40 points so early on in the campaign, Wolves have to make sure they do not subconsciously take their foot off the gas.

"Being the victims of a Bluebirds double would certainly dampen spirits, fresh off losing to Jan Siewert's relegation-destined team once more."

'Morrison an easy target'

Asked if the criticism on Sean Morrison since his return is fair:

“I think Sean is an easy target, but I’ll be picking what I think is the best team.

“We haven’t got many options at the back and I’ll be looking at the opponents as well.

“Wolves have always been solid at the back and had good midfield players. Jota and Jonny have fitted in really well, it’s not been a surprise to me that they’ve had good results against the top teams.”

'Managers are judged on performances'

Asked about nerves and energy being issues:

“I think the half-time against Watford was strange for me, it was so down after not having the penalty and we weren’t ourselves in the second half.

“Everything that’s happened this season, it’s been difficult.

”I don’t feel any different, I just feel disappointed.

“To concede a silly goal before half time against Everton was disappointing.

“Managers are judged on performances, that’s it.”

'Game-changer Camarasa will be in the squad'

Is Camarasa confident?

“I think I’ve said enough on that… I don’t want to get Blakey’s back up.

“He said we should keep it in house.

“I’ve been informed by our medical people that he’s okay.

“He’ll be in the squad. He was disappointed he couldn’t play in the last few games, you’re not going to get less than 100% from him and he’s got so much ability - we’ve missed that. He’s a game-changer.”

Nuno reveals controversial Wolves team news for Cardiff City clash as star axed

Birmingham Live

Friday 1st March 2019

Fans react after Nuno drops £18m Patricio for John Ruddy vs Cardiff at Molineux

John Ruddy will start in goal for Wolverhampton Wanderers against Cardiff City on Saturday.

Nuno Espirito Santo confirmed the switch between the sticks at his press conference ahead of the Premier League clash at Molineux.

Ruddy is yet to feature in a league match this season - providing back-up for summer signing Rui Patricio who has played every game.

Instead Ruddy has been Wolves’ cup goalkeeper, and with the crucial FA Cup quarter final against Manchester United a only fortnight away, Nuno wants to ensure the 32-year-old is fully prepared for the challenge.

Confirming the change, the Wolves boss said: “In terms of who is going to play, we have already made our decisions. We don't normally do this, but to avoid any confusion, John Ruddy is going to play tomorrow because we consider it is the right moment to prepare him for what's coming in front of us.

“Because in two weeks' time, we're going to play in the FA Cup, and John Ruddy is going to be in goal. We consider this is the right moment for him to get some game time competition, and to be stronger.

“We have a lot of confidence in the three goalkeepers we have. Rui has been playing in the league, John has been playing in the Cup, Will Norris has not had a chance until now to play but we have 100 per cent confidence in all three."
