CCFC / EMILIANO SALA “ LEAKED WHATSAPP MESSAGES “

A series of leaked WhatsApp messages have shown that Emiliano Sala was not 'abandoned' by Cardiff, as claimed by agent Willie McKay.

McKay has claimed the Premier League club let Sala make his own travel arrangements after his £15 million transfer from Nantes.

McKay arranged the flight that crashed in the Channel last month, killing the 28-year-old.

But these messages, procured by French outlet Ouest-France, show a Cardiff Player Liaison Officer offering a commercial flight to the striker.

A screenshot of a commercial line passing through Paris was sent to Sala.

Sent in a mixture of French and Spanish, the messages show Sala declining the offer as he already had a flight sorted after McKay called him.

McKay told the BBC on Thursday night: 'He was abandoned in a hotel more or less to do his travel arrangements himself.

'Nobody in Cardiff seemed to be doing anything. It was a bit embarrassing for Cardiff.

'They buy a player for £15m and then leave him in a hotel by himself to go on the computer and look for a flight - I think Cardiff let themselves down badly.

'The way they've acted so far, they've been a disgrace.'

Cardiff have previously said they offered to book a commercial flight for the footballer and 'strongly reject' suggestions they did not do this.

The body of Sala was recovered on February 6 after the single-engine Piper PA-46 plummeted into the English Channel on January 21.

Pilot David Ibbotson is still missing more than a month after the plane he piloted crashed.

McKay confirmed he arranged the flight through David Henderson, an experienced pilot, and McKay denied suggestions he owned the plane.

It says in that exchange that Sala was expecting to return Monday night, it has been made out along that the flight was arranged for Monday morning then got delayed to the evening. It has been thought that the pilot was not qualified to fly that type of plane at night, so has that all been made up, to cover up this fact?

These look like they’ve been leaked by Cardiff on purpose, really was no need though because the original messages from Jack McKay to Sala that we’re “leaked” by the McKays in the days after the plane went down stated that Cardiff had offered to fly Sala Commercial from CDG to CWL and sala stayed it was all sorted.

That is one of the reasons I was going on about the validity of the translation, was it changed at source by the McKays, until they release the same conversation in Spanish/French the way these messages are then it is still a valid point for me.

Agreed, didn't the poxy agent also say that he paid for the flight ? Sala does not seem to indicate that when he says a price has been agreed.

I questioned the McKay position when they went public whilst an investigation was ongoing. As you say, they have now made themselves look ten times worse

Why would Cardiff need to leak this ? It clearly says it's from Quest France (who are reputable) and McKay has already said himself that he arranged flights.

I hope that the BBC's Dan Roan publishes this as a follow-up to his McKay interview story he ran yesterday.

It says in that exchange that Sala was expecting to return Monday night, it has been made out along that the flight was arranged for Monday morning then got delayed to the evening. the hotel the pilot stayed at confirmed his stay and went as far as saying what he had to eat and had wine with the meal the night before. also that he was up and seemingly on his way early that morning only to say he was returning to his room as plans had been changed..
couple this with the txt messages between ES and Mckays son where ES clearly wants to leave as late as possible...
and it does look likely wires were crossed and David Ibottson actually thought he was flying in daylight at 7am not 7pm ..what convos took place that morning between Ibottson and whoever that changed that we will never know. or at best have only one version.
