“ Deadline for Sala money is today “

Cardiff City must pay Nantes the first instalment of the £15m transfer fee for striker Emiliano Sala on Wednesday.

Argentine Sala, the Bluebirds' record signing, died aged 28 in a plane crash in the English Channel on 21 January.

Cardiff were due to make the first of three instalments on 20 February, but the clubs agreed to extend the deadline by a week.

French side Nantes wrote to Cardiff on 5 February requesting for the first of three instalments.

Cardiff said they were withholding payment until crash investigations were complete and that they were satisfied on "anomalies" around the deal.

Chairman Mehmet Dalman said Cardiff will be "honourable" with Nantes if they are contractually obliged to pay.

French side Bordeaux are due 50% of the fee because of a sell-on clause when they sold Sala to Nantes in 2015.

If the 27 January deadline is not met, the dispute could be referred to world football's governing body Fifa.

His body was recovered but pilot David Ibbotson remains missing.

f**k sake City , just pay the first instalment
We are beginning to look like right bellends
All the support we’ve had from other clubs supporters will soon evaporate if this drags on

I agree, it’s time to pay the first instalment. No doubt our lawyers are in control of this though....that Henderson bloke who organised the flight and has yet to say a word on it, is surely the one who Tan will pursue for a legal claim anyway?

Its gone to fifa now for them to look at it! But hearing an expert on the subject hes sure that city do need to pay Nante, lets just wait for the authorities to rule on what happens next? City will pay if required as they've already said but lets not make mistake of letting nante have Money if there is any doubt about transfer to do so is iresponsible.

No offence intended but you have to laugh at some on here.

The Club will be the ones that know the facts, what they can and can't do, and what they need to and don't need to do. They will pay the money as and when they see fit, if at all, similarly Nantes will be doing what they think they need to do.

Everyone needs to just let it run its course now. Our opinions count for nothing really as none of us know the ins and outs of it all and what's being said by the no doubt countless parties involved in this tragic situation.

Leave the club to sort out, he was not our player, as he had not signed the right papers, so why demand the £15 million.

I thought he was confirmed our player but his registration to be added to our 25 man squad was wrong

Poor bloke huh, if he had not signed for Cardiff City he would still be alive!

The way double o Mckay worked was a complete disgrace, another example of why agents need to be cut out of the game.

But us not paying the money makes us just as bad.

Scenario 1... the plane didn't crash and Sala returned safely... payment time comes - we pay up... even if we found out the flight was dodgy we most likely would have still paid.

Scenario 2... plane crashed so we try finding ways not to pay for Sala.

Soo disrespectful, so wrong, lets just pay up.
